Some functionality that was previously free in Fusion 360 for personal use will only be available to subscribers. Learn more about what’s changing below.
On October 1, 2020, features in Fusion 360 for personal use will be changing, including limitations to the CAM workspace, electronics capacity, 2D documentation, and data management functionality.
Fusion 360 for personal use remains free for individuals working on home-based, non-commercial design, manufacturing, and fabrication projects.
These changes are being made to allow us to scale, align intended usage with the various offerings, support advanced capabilities for Fusion 360 subscribers, and stay true to our guiding principles of making design tools available for everyone.
Access to all features and functionality will require a Fusion 360 subscription.

Can I still export my designs as STEP? |
STEP export will remain available for Fusion 360 for personal use.

What if I have more than 10 active documents? |
Fusion 360 for personal use is limited to 10 active and editable documents, however can you have unlimited archived documents in your account. Today all your designs and documents are active by default. You can open any design no matter how old or new and they will open. You can have as many document tabs as possible. 10 active documents means that you have 10 spots for any document to open and be editable at any given time. All your other documents will be stored in your projects in a new archived state. They will remain yours, saved in your projects. You can have unlimited number of archived documents (designs) as well as projects (top level folders in your data panel) in your account. If you are at your 10 document capacity, and at any point you want to revisit an older design and open it up, you can do so by archiving an existing active documents and activating the archived one to swap places.

Can I still 3D print from Fusion 360? |
Yes. You can still export a non-commercial Fusion 360 design as an STL or OBJ format to use with a third-party slicer. You also have access to FFF Additive in the Manufacturing workspace to print directly from Fusion 360.

Can I still export DXFs and how do I do it? |
You can still export DXFs, but only from a sketch. To do this, you’ll need to right click on the sketch in the browser and choose ‘Save as DXF. For more information, review How to Save Sketch as a DXF. to Autodesk products and services, renewable as long as you remain eligible.

How do I proceed if I am using Fusion 360 for educational purposes? |
The Education offering is still available through an application and verification process. Students and educators can still get free one-year educational access to Autodesk products and services, renewable as long as you remain eligible.

What CAM functionality is now included in Fusion 360 for personal use? |
With Fusion 360 for personal use, you’ll still be able to create 2.5-axis, 3-axis, turning, and water/laser/plasma, and FFF additive toolpaths and post to your home-use CNC for non-commercial use. For details on the changes in the manufacturing workspace, please refer to the Manufacturing FAQ.

What does this mean if I want to export a file from Fusion 360 for personal use? |
You still can export select file types for non-commercial use. The exports will still give you the ability to 3D print, CNC, and render in external software.

Do I still get updates to Fusion 360 for personal use? |
Yes. You will still get regular product updates with new features, fixes, and performance enhancements, given that you are running on supported OS versions and meet the system requirements.

Do I have access to all my data if I choose not to subscribe to Fusion 360? |
Yes, the data you create with Fusion 360 for personal use is tied to your individual Autodesk Account. Your data is owned by you and remains private.

How do I subscribe to Fusion 360? |
You can purchase a subscription to Fusion 360 here. You can also contact an Autodesk representative or an Autodesk channel partner to help you with your purchase. So long as you purchase with the same email address that you used for your personal account, you’ll have seamless access to your data.
