Copying a project

Copying a project - Exercise

  1. Execute the Copy Project command from the ribbon or by using the command prompt.
  2. To start from the ribbon, go to the Project tab and select Copy.
  3. This opens the Copy Project dialog box. You also can invoke this dialog by typing AE COPY PROJECT in the command line.
  4. Select the project to be copied. By default, it selects the active project.
  5. Next, you will see an option to use the current project as a template. Checking this box will copy all drawing files and related project files automatically. If you would like to customize, then uncheck the box so that it will give you an option to choose the drawing.
  6. Select the necessary files that you would like to copy, rename, and fine-tune whatever gets copied.
  7. Enter a new project name and choose a folder location where the copied project will be saved. Ensure the destination path has the correct permissions.
  8. Click OK to begin copying.
  9. AutoCAD Electrical will duplicate the selected files, preserving all the references and structure.
  10. The newly copied project will automatically become the active project.
