Alstom uses VRED Professional software to produce high-quality imagery for project communication, as well as real-time-experiences production for design reviews and communication movies, enabling a single-visualization digital mockup. Meanwhile, Alstom also needs to make sure its designs reach a broader population that includes external teams and individuals, and from this perspective, the communication production workflow is provided by Stingray game engine. This talk will describe the collaboration between Alstom and Autodesk, Inc., to build a VRED data workflow that capitalizes on Stingray game engine as an output source for their designs, consequently extending the reach of their project communication capabilities. In this instructional demonstration, we'll explore how gamification can help you in your daily business. With Stingray software you can produce stunning experiences around your CAD models very quickly. We'll focus on producing games for your web page, creating immersive and funny experience for your customers, training your users on your products, and creating virtual reality workflows. We'll also dig around the technical workflows to move an Inventor design to Stingray efficiently.

In this class, students will learn how to use Revit software, the Live add-in, and Stingray game engine to create high-quality, interactive visualizations from 3D models. First, you will learn how to use the Live add-in to convert 3D Revit models to the game engine, Stingray. Once in Stingray engine, you will learn how to create immersive environments for your clients. In these environments, owners can explore, interact, and even edit their own projects. They can choose from various design options and view the costs associated with them. Students will learn a workflow that is simple, repeatable, and teachable, even for those unfamiliar with video games or programming. The benefits of using gaming in construction include increasing owner involvement, reducing the time and effort it takes to produce an attractive proposal, and facilitating bidding on smaller projects with a quality offering only affordable by larger projects today. Rendering high-performance virtual-reality (VR) experiences at 90Hz is complex and technically challenging. Creating memorable content and intuitive interactions forces developers to rethink old assumptions and come up with new tricks. This class will focus on how to use Stingray game engine to create optimized VR experiences. By using the available profiling tools to spot bottlenecks, tips and tricks will be shared to tailor content and interactions to get the most out of Stingray game engine’s VR rendering pipeline. In this class, we will cover the workflows to create a game from your InfraWorks 360 software designs. The workflow will cover exporting your InfraWorks 360 model, harnessing 3ds Max software, and then using Stingray game engine to create the game. This session features Autodesk Stingray, 3ds Max, and InfraWorks 360.

AR/VR is a hot topic, and creating these kind of experiences require some knowledge of Real-Time engines. To go beyond simple templates and add interactivity, simulation and immersion, Stingray (3ds Max Interactive) offers different tools such as Flow, Stories and scripting. This last method is by far the most efficient and customizable, but can seem intimidating.

The session will be led by myself and facilitated by Paul Kind, who has been through the entire process of leaning scripting from scratch in Stingray (3ds Max Interactive).

This class is aimed at introducing scripting in Stingray (3ds Max Interactive)as a means to add interactions in your Immersive Experience and improve productivity. There is no pre-required knowledge of scripting, though a familiarity with Stingray (3ds Max Interactive) is required.

We start with the very basics, explaining concepts like variables, tables, and API calls, and move towards how scripting is integrated into Stingray (3ds Max Interactive) to create simple interactions via custom Flow nodes.

In this class, students will learn how Skanska created high-quality, interactive estimates and schedules in virtual reality (VR) by linking external Building Information Modeling (BIM) data sources into Autodesk's Stingray interactive engine. First, we'll demonstrate how Skanska exported BIM data from Revit software into an external data source. Information in the external data source will be organized and sorted. Then, we'll import that information into Stingray in various configurations to create interactive, immersive environments leveraging a repeatable workflow that enables our clients to visualize different design, cost, and scheduling options in VR. As a result, clients will be able to visualize 4D schedules and 5D estimates. They will be able to choose from various design and material options and see the costs associated with them. Finally, they will be able to export the information from Stingray to an external data source. Benefits of estimating and scheduling in VR include realistic design visualization and real-time decision making.

This class will showcase the Stingray gaming engine's augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) pipeline, and demonstrate how we can use Forge software to power collaborative AR/VR experiences on various platforms. We'll give an overview of how to implement efficient stereo-rendering pipelines in modern real-time renderers to use with today's AR and VR devices, as well as how to work with these devices in Stingray. Finally, we will showcase a demonstration using Forge to load models in an AR application on the fly.

Most real-time rendering programs that let you bring in your Revit projects show amazing graphics-however, they are limited to one "moment" in time and therefore capture only a near-static project with very little physics or interaction-until now. With Autodesk Live (Revit software's real-time rendering viewer) and a little spice from the Stingray game engine, your projects will become living, breathing buildings as they were meant to be. And it's possible to easily add "the extra spice," such as moving elevators, people, and medical equipment, and supporting vehicle construction equipment. In this class, attendees will learn to use the real-time rendering of Autodesk Live, and learn how to bring Revit models into it. Also, attendees will learn how to bring Autodesk Live models into Stingray to add that extra spice to projects by using real-time rendering and real-time physics.

Game engines empower us to enhance project understanding and make interactivity possible for all users, and they've grown from being super advanced to something more commonplace. Continuing that growth means we need to take advantage of the data and intelligence that we're building into our projects. To that end, this class will focus on 2 main aspects of the Stingray experience. First, we'll focus on streamlining workflows from Revit software to Stingray. This includes best practices for Revit families to ensure elements animate and work properly in Stingray. We'll also cover project workflows to ensure that our designs can progress while regularly updating our Stingray projects and not losing effort or time. Second, we'll ensure that we're getting more from Revit than just 3D geometry. Our design teams have put a lot of effort into creating intelligent Building Information Modeling (BIM); we should take advantage of that. So we'll cover the workflows used to bring that data into Stingray, and we'll look at how to take advantage of the data once it's there.

In this class you will learn how to present and evaluate simulation data for computer-generated and scanned environments by using Autodesk, Inc.’s, latest real-time technology, Stingray software. We will use Autodesk’s cloud offering ReCap Photo software to capture real-world data using drone flights and GoPro, Inc., videos, and we’ll prepare models and textures using 3ds Max software and Memento software. You can use the captured environment for simulation and in-context display of Building Information Modeling (BIM) data sets, which we will present using Stingray—a real-time engine that is capable of not only creating interactive story telling, but can also be used to create virtual reality experiences on mobile, web, and desktop platforms.

With the introduction of Stingray 3D game engine, multitudes of new workflows are now possible. This class will explore and demystify the material workflows from 3ds Max software and Maya software to Stingray software. Simple materials are easy, but if you really want to capitalize on all Stingray has to offer you need to understand the basics of Shader FX and the new Stingray/PBR (physically based rendering). Much of this material will also be applicable in Unity and Unreal workflows.

Intended for intermediate to advanced users of AutoCAD Civil 3D software and InfraWorks software, this class is designed to show civil design professionals techniques and nuances for creating a real-time interactive environment of their site designs using Autodesk's Stingray game engine. This class will consist of a live demonstration showing how to create a "world" out of your site design that can be navigated utilizing an Xbox One controller and a virtual reality headset. Specifically, this class will discuss workflow issues the presenter encountered when constructing a one-square-mile simulation of the urban core of Austin, Texas, utilizing only LIDAR (light detection and ranging) and planimetric data.

This session will cover collaboration between architects and design visualization specialists within the Live Design network. Once a Revit software user generates an Autodesk Revit LIVE project, any design visualization specialist can jump in and take that project to another level. In this class we will show how to take content made in software such as Revit software and Inventor software, bring it into 3ds Max software for further prep and polish, and finally bring it into Stingray game engine for the final result. With Stingray game engine, we will see how to create presentations with features like real-time lighting and material modification, object interaction, and even virtual-reality headset support. In this session, speakers will discuss the power of immersive visualization to promote innovative science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education initiatives. Using the Mars City Facility Ops Challenge case study, speakers will show how information within Building Information Modeling (BIM) can be integrated into virtual reality. They will share insights gained, while creating an immersive environment for a visionary organization, using Revit software, Autodesk LIVE, and Stingray game engine. Mars City (founded by the National Institute of Building Sciences to recruit a new generation of professionals to work with high-performance buildings) uses BIM and facility maintenance tools to manage a virtual base on Mars. KieranTimberlake enhanced the curriculum using an immersive environment to engage students with hands-on learning opportunities, playing out scenarios in virtual reality. Speakers will highlight challenges and opportunities captured in the case study, as well as broader applications of the workflow in architectural visualization, facilities management, and education.
