Success Story

Walraven Company started as a small family business in 1942 in Netherlands, and nowadays it is an international company with business locations all over Europe and manufacturing plants around the world. They started a business in Poland in 2003 and for nearly 20 years Walraven is changing the Polish industry with smart designs that can provide complete fixing solutions for any project, no matter how large or complex they are. Walraven's main branch is handling the fixing of ducts: ventilation, sewage, water, heating and cooling, cable trays and more.
However, like every company, Walraven also faces challenges. In the presented case, the issue was the number of single elements in highly extensive and advanced assemblies. Their amount meant that even the best computers were having trouble, while handling such complex projects.
How to speed up the design of complex structures? While most of the projects made by Walraven are focused on how to route the pipe attachments in a logical way, using simple pipe clamps or fixed points, some of them – especially roof structures – are multi-segment assemblies with a huge amount of components.
Project goals are to improve the work of engineers by implementing Autodesk Fusion 360, and to speed up the work of engineers by increasing their efficiency and reducing project time. And also to eliminate human errors made during the projecting process and at the same time increase innovation.
The company implemented the Autodesk Fusion 360 solution with professional tools for modeling elements in 3D, as well as advanced design work and preparing offers for company clients. With Autodesk Fusion 360, each engineer has access to libraries and builds for both single elements and standardized solutions, which can be implemented in individual projects.
Custom-made designs usually have only several days of deadline, which gives very little time for a proper preparation – every hour is valuable, so pre-built substructures are being implemented to save them. Each of those pre-built elements can be adjusted by parameterization functions. Most designs are based on perforated rail profiles from one of three series: RapidRail, RapidStrut and Maxx.
With each parameterized element, it is possible to create ready-made segments that are added to assemblies. Those segments are often created from segments from their own catalog of standardized segments, corners, roof walkways, bends, stairs, ladders, etc. – they are assembled together into final designs.
The highest benefit of using Autodesk Fusion 360 is the ability to prepare components that are parameterized and pre-prepared from standardized segments. You can create very complex service platforms and walkways.
Sometimes, for the largest and most complex projects, the assembly needs to be simplified. So-called “monoblocks” are used for the largest assemblies – those are the segments transformed into one solid block. Such solid blocks can be saved as a new component in the parts list as an independent file, so you can create multi-segment, very complex assemblies with only few simplified bodies in it.
Final projects consist of subassemblies, which contain modified segments, non-modified segments and individual elements. Those can be easily exported into a parts list.
The most crucial result for a client however, is not a design itself, but an offer. By exporting a list of parts into a data sheet, a bill of materials for a project can be made. The parameterization view is a convenient tool in this process, because in the value column of the “parametrization window” you can immediately see how much mm is in parametrized dimensions – which can be taken into account in the parts list. This table can be used to prepare the official offer.
From model to project, from project to offer.
As said by Paweł Cieślik - Project Engineer at Walraven, “Autodesk Fusion 360 is the best possible program for creating complex assemblies from pre-made components. This makes it a widely practical tool in the mechanical and construction industry. From the 3d model, through project and assembly, into the bill of materials and a final offer for the client.”

DEPHOS Group Implements Autodesk Tools and Uses BIM Technology
Since 2000, DEPHOS Group has consistently been at the forefront of 3D data acquisition companies. With competencies and experience in the field of laser scanning, photogrammetry and geodesy, and the help of aerial, mobile and terrestrial measurement systems, they successfully deliver a wide range of cartographic and spatial products for CAD, BIM and GIS systems to customers all over the world. The main challenge that the DEPHOS Group faced was to implement a set of specialized tools to increase efficiency and in particular to enable the effective interpretation of data from the so-called point clouds containing measurement data sets as well as enabling precise 3D modeling in BIM technology.
BIMTEK Applies Advanced BIM Solutions for Installation Projects
BIMTEK is a design company specializing in servicing large installation projects for residential buildings, industrial facilities and public utilities. The company participates in servicing contractors from all over Norway providing design support in 3D / BIM technology. Thanks to the experience gained on the European market, the company is recognized on the local market as an experienced and competent team of industry designers providing BIM engineering services. The main challenge that appeared in front of BIMTEK was to increase the possibility of project cooperation while increasing the quality level of BIM projects.
SIGMA S.A. implemented Autodesk PDMC and Autodesk Vault Workgroup to improve workflow
Since 1996, SIGMA SA has been dealing with the system implementation of new solutions in the design and production of machines, devices and comprehensive technologies for the needs of various industries such as mining, waste processing and manual load manipulation. The biggest challenge was to provide a solution that would enable effective remote work of designers in an ordered database, on one CAD design file, eliminating repeated errors and significantly reducing work time. In addition it was important for the client to include other departments of the company into the document flow i.e. technology, supply and quality control.
