Customer challenge

APE d.o.o., is a company focused on urban planning and architecture. As a part of the EU CO-EVOLVE project, they took part in a project of "Revitalization of Rural Settlements in Neretva River Valley." Part of the project was creating a catalog compilation of rural settlements in the area.

Project goals

The broader project aimed to analyze and promote the co-evolution of human activities and natural systems in the touristic coastal areas of the Mediterranean, allowing for the sustainable development of touristic activities. APE d.o.o. took part in the collection of field data and organizing them for the purpose of thematic mapping and geospatial analysis in current and historical context.

Solution

Autodesk Solution Provider PRIOR inženjering implemented a solution for the collection and management of field data and helped APE d.o.o. to connect and organize the data for analysis, printing and presentation. Data involved photo documentation collected on site and current and historical statistical and demographical data. For the purpose of reporting and analysis, cartographic presentation of data was prepared on current and historical maps. The catalog of collected data was produced in both digital and printed form. The solution was based on AutoCAD Map 3D and AutoCAD Raster Design for the geospatial part and MS Access for data collection and report generation.

Business outcome

APE d.o.o was able to collect, analyze and present data in a streamlined manner, relying on the process and workflow matched to their needs and requirements of the project. Additionally, PRIOR inženjering helped them utilize the Autodesk software they already had as a part of the AEC Industry Collection instead of using several other tools relying on generic workflows.

Conclusion

Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D and Autodesk AutoCAD Raster Design are powerful tools for collection, organization and analysis of geospatial data which greatly helped APE d.o.o. in their effort to compile, analyze and present the catalog of rural settlements of the Neretva River Valley.
