Why did the client choose containers?
Shipping containers was an exciting choice to suit the client's innovation space concept and the execution timelines. Also, it was a large-scale prestigious project with high-visibility.
The project has consecutive phases. During the initial phase, the teams did not use a BIM collaboration platform. In the past, we used to store the BIM model on our server and export it whenever we needed to share it with clients.
"We would send the model through WeTransfer and wouldn’t know when it is used. The partner would take one or two weeks to get back to us, and by that time, the model might already be outdated,” explained Ananth Jaison – IT Manager at SMARTBOX.
“Customers would often write their comments on the printout and would need to be transferred to Revit. Sometimes there is the chance of misunderstanding which will lead to error. We want to win high value projects with in-house expertise to compete for more BIM projects which will increase profits and have full control on their projects."
