Since 1940, Dąbrowska Fabryka Maszyn Elektrycznych "Damel" S. A. has been providing services in the field of electrical machines and manufacturing electric motors designed mainly for work in explosion hazard zones. The company carries out the most demanding projects meeting individual customer requirements. The design process takes place in our own design office, where a complete technical documentation is prepared for the production departments that manufacture the ordered device. Vault software was necessary to organize the documentation for different versions of the product and to be able to make the complete design available for production purposes.

Project goals

Due to the large variety of versions and variations of products implemented in the design office and the ever-increasing amount of documentation, there were problems with the identification of versions and changes in the implemented project. This caused an unnecessary increase in the amount of clerical work to ensure traceability of different versions of the products. It was necessary to implement a system that would eliminate confusion and provide the ability to easily correct the design during prototyping. In the design process, functionality, time to develop technical documentation and flexibility of execution are important. The company was looking for a system that would cover all of the company's processes, from research, to design, to production, to product sales. In order to realize this implementation, an opportunity arose to combine the ERP class system with the PDM system.

Already in the implementation phase of the Autodesk solution, Damel recognized the significant advantages of Autodesk Vault, including the ability to control versions and document changes and the elimination of mistakes on the production floor due to outdated documentation. The company has implemented the Autodesk Product Design & Manufacturing Collection and Autodesk Vault design support software, which enables seamless management of all technical documentation created by designers in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Autodesk Vault lets you manage the versions of design documentation and materials that accompany production orders. In addition, all descriptive documents relating to the product are placed there, such as technical and operating documentation, datasheets or even documented complications arising during the course of the project, allowing for further development work within the project.
