Rowad Modern Engineering (RME) is a general contractor, specialized in large scale projects, working on residential, commercial & admin buildings.
This project consists of 3 residential towers connecting to each other by podium of 5 floors, 2 of them are basement which includes all MEP works for the whole podium and customer challenges are as follows:
- Advanced MEP systems in design which leads to complexity in coordination
- MEP trades are Mechanical-HVAC, Water supply, Firefighting, Drainage, Electrical-Cable Routing (MV&LV), Lighting, Small power, Earthing, Low Current-Fire Alarm, Public address, CCTV& Data structure cabling and Access control.
- Existing Civil & Architectural work on site
- Occurrence of multiple sub0contractors which affect communication
- Use of IoT devices in operation to assist in facility management
For this project, the Project Goals are as follows:
1. Deliver 3D coordinated MEP Models with existing civil & architectural works
2. Provide common data environment to organize all project stakeholders & project documents along project timeline
3. Verify clashes between displaces to reach zero clash
4. Integration between as-built model & sensors of IoT devices.
Quality Standards for Information Technology, the service provider for this project, used Autodesk products to deliver above mentioned goals as follows:
* Autodesk Recap Pro to work on real data captured from site for existing architectural & civil works
* Autodesk Revit for modeling all MEP networks & reflecting point cloud data from Recap Pro
* Autodesk Navisworks to review disciplines models together & provide zero clash detection reports
* Autodesk Docs & Insights to store data, communicate between stakeholders through specific workflows and facilitating approvals cycles of documents
The plan that Quality Standards for Information Technology used in the mentioned Autodesk products helps in reaching customer goals & provide solutions by facilitating all challenges in the project as Quality Standards for Information Technology succeeded to deliver high quality as-built models reflecting all sensors required from RME to facilitate in asset management phase obtaining real-time data from the BIM models. In addition to raising the knowledge of RME on how Autodesk deal with existing site conditions & use this data to integrate and coordinate it with the new construction elements.

ALKAN CIT had a big challenge in delivering this mega project in 5 years. Also, the other big challenge is that AlKAN CIT needed this project in 3D format including all the information. Additionally, the team was challenged by miss-communication between the home office and remote sites which led to data diversity. Finally clashes among disciplines caused delays and issues in construction schedules.
Telecom GSM towers
Telecom Egypt has two main challenges. First, they are using the AutoCAD tools for drafting, there is no advanced 3D modeling tools or capabilities. Second, Telecom Egypt has previously built GSM towers years ago and they have no data about those towers.
