Research and Testing in Łukasiewicz - Institute of Exploitation Technology

Research and Testing in Łukasiewicz - Institute of Exploitation Technology

Customer challenge

Łukasiewicz - Institute of Exploitation Technology in Radom was established in 1986 and is one of 32 institutes associated in the Łukasiewicz Research Network, the third largest research network in Europe. It employs over 4,500 scientists equipped with unique scientific and research equipment. The potential of Łukasiewicz is focused around four research areas: Health, Smart Mobility, Digital Transformation and Sustainable Economy and Energy. It provides compelling, complete and competitive technology solutions. It offers business a "challenge" system whereby within 15 days the entrepreneur receives a proposal for an effective implementation solution without incurring any costs associated with developing a research idea.

Project goals

From the very beginning, an important area of activity of the Radom Institute has been the design and manufacture of research and process apparatus, technological systems and automated quality control systems. Since 1991, CAD systems have been used in the Institute's design work, starting with successive versions of Autodesk AutoCad (the leader in CAD at that time) through Autodesk Mechanical Desktop and ending with Autodesk Inventor. In 2001, PROCAD became the Institute's partner in software delivery, CAD consulting and training, ranging from basic to dedicated training for our current needs (MES, routing systems, Inventor Studio).

Solution

Since 1991, CAD systems have been used in the Institute's design works, starting from successive versions of Autodesk AutoCad (the leader of CAD at that time), through Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, ending with Autodesk Inventor. In 2001, PROCAD has become a partner of the Institute in the field of software supply, CAD consultancy and training, starting from those at the basic level to those dedicated to our current needs (MES, routing systems, Inventor Studio).

Business outcome

The current project activity of the Institute concerns the following areas: research and testing equipment, environmental safety technologies, technological systems related to rational management of operating and post-production fluids and recycling, and automated quality control systems in serial production. An example of a project using Inventor capabilities is a technological device for PVD processes. With the Piping module, it was possible to optimize the complex hydraulic system for cooling the process chamber and process equipment. A two-layer, water-cooled chamber shell was designed and verified using Inventor Nastran with varying pressure and temperature conditions. Rational sheet metal management in the manufacturing process was provided by the Nesting module based on details designed in the Sheet Metal Structures module.

Conclusion

Regardless of the area of design, Inventor is not only an efficient and effective CAD tool to accelerate the design process. It also allows visualization of the resulting solution presented both to the developers and to the recipient of the project. Continuous increase in qualifications and competence of our staff allows us to take up challenges in new areas, such as offshore wind energy or energy-efficient modular construction.

Astonishing Visualisations and Animations of the Highest Skyscraper in EU by Luminance Studio

When HB Reavis company, an international provider of workspace approached us with a request to create visuals and animations promoting their literally biggest creation - the largest skyscraper Varso in the European Union - we knew it would be a demanding task. Our goal was to promote office spaces, in one of the most important construction investments in the capital of Poland. Basically, it was up to us to help create marketing materials to effectively sell the office space in the building. Located in the heart of Warsaw, Varso office building consists of 3 buildings: Two smaller office buildings Varso 1 and Varso 2 designed by HRA Architekci, where in addition to office space, we will also find public space with stores, restaurants and services. Particularly noteworthy is a huge lobby, where we can see planted trees creating a friendly, green space inside the building. Finally, the Varso Tower - a 310-metre dream of many designers and architects.

Sustainable Construction with BIM

At Salvage | Frame Group we mainly work on managing and improving the construction process and on building management. For this we use BIM technology in all dimensions. We use the 3D BIM model in the design process for full collaboration and interdisciplinary cooperation. For planning and management of the construction process we operate in BIM 4D, and for cost estimating we use BIM 5D.
