Astonishing Visualisations and Animations of the Highest Skyscraper in EU by Luminance Studio

Astonishing Visualisations and Animations of the Highest Skyscraper in EU by Luminance Studio

Customer challenge

When HB Reavis company, an international provider of workspace approached us with a request to create visuals and animations promoting their literally biggest creation - the largest skyscraper Varso in the European Union - we knew it would be a demanding task. Our goal was to promote office spaces, in one of the most important construction investments in the capital of Poland. Basically, it was up to us to help create marketing materials to effectively sell the office space in the building. Located in the heart of Warsaw, Varso office building consists of 3 buildings: Two smaller office buildings Varso 1 and Varso 2 designed by HRA Architekci, where in addition to office space, we will also find public space with stores, restaurants and services. Particularly noteworthy is a huge lobby, where we can see planted trees creating a friendly, green space inside the building. Finally, the Varso Tower - a 310-metre dream of many designers and architects.

Project goals

We were asked to create dynamic, immersive images and animations perfectly representing every detail and every space in a very realistic and creative way. This type of investment is very controversial - a monumental block in the heart of the city arouses a lot of emotion - this significantly limited the room for maneuver which usually allows to "show the project as nicely as possible, not necessarily correctly in terms of design". As an example we can mention that the height of curbs in the surroundings of the investment had to be mapped with an accuracy of 1cm according to the actual state. Issues such as the position of the sun and the shadows that followed it on the building and its surroundings were also a critical point. Every element of the visualization was rigorously verified by various design departments of our client: From the species of plants used in the design, the finishing materials of the building, to the visibility of certain installations such as ventilation.

Solution

As with all of Luminance Studio's projects, in this case we also used a number of Autodesk programs to meet all the challenges set for us. We received the building project in the form of a Autodesk Revit model, and .dwg files from Autodesk AutoCAD. In the current versions of the software, importing the Autodesk Revit model into our main tool - Autodesk 3ds max runs extremely smoothly. Thanks to that, we could almost completely skip the building modeling stage from scratch, which in this case would have been really time-consuming. And so we remodeled the most important parts of the investment, cleaned the model of unnecessary elements and added extra details. Then the final model went through a series of tests to make sure it renders correctly in terms of generating GI (global illumination), reflections, and shading. Autodesk 3ds max's tools and great integration with CAD software once again show that it's one of the best programs for this type of work.

Business outcome

Our projects related to Varso appear in almost every possible place - from the investment's website, social media, to internal meetings with potential tenants of the space in the building. Thanks to the great precision of rendering the project, very often our visualizations influence the decision-making process at the final design stage of a given space. We feel that thanks to our cooperation we contribute to the development of this investment in many aspects.

Conclusion

HB Reavis is actively using our services to increase the effectiveness of investment marketing, which makes us very happy. We are proud to see Varso, a real gem in our portfolio. During this cooperation we learned a lot about how to organize work on a large and demanding project, how to manage our resources and how to deal with huge amounts of data generated by this kind of projects. Autodesk software was a key resource for us to face these challenges. Thanks to the projects prepared for Varso, we have strengthened our reputation in Poland as well as gained international recognition. We are ready for further, even greater challenges!
