Logistical Platform Project

Logistical Platform Project

Customer challenge

Iperforma, founded in Porto in 1983, is a business corporation that holds stakes and partnerships in several companies, with a special focus on architecture and engineering consultancy. Iperforma’s curriculum features an extensive range of projects intended for the most diverse functions. Its operations encompass many diverse areas such as health, retail, multi-use buildings, tourism and leisure, housing, and services, equipment, fuel installations, industry, infrastructures, planning. Iperforma national and international experience, combined with a constant commitment to innovation and search for the best and most efficient workflows, allowed to recognize the emerging importance of Autodesk BIM implementation in all company departments. Iperforma gathered all the knowledge acquired in the Autodesk BIM implementation on the development of a logistical platform project.

Project goals

The project complexity, allied to the client's requirements, raised several challenges leading Iperforma to define precise project goals. One of it is the development of workflows that allow correct and efficient management of the information produced during the entire asset design process. Not to mention that the development of precise digital models of the site conditions, allowing more precise and efficient solutions. In addition to that, it has 3D coordination of all disciplines and an automatic data extraction from digital models.

Solution

The software solution included several AEC products, such as for building digital modulation it was used Autodesk Revit. This solution allowed modelling and information management of all disciplines in the same environment, reducing interoperability problems. The structural analysis was developed with Robot Structural Analysis. The topography and infrastructure studies were produced using Autodesk InfraWorks, Autodesk Civil 3d and Autodesk Vehicle Tracking, allowing an easier connection between landscape and building models. Besides that, for coordination of all disciplines it was used Autodesk Navisworks. In order to outcome the complexity of information management, the solution included the adoption of a common data environment (CDE), which allowed, in addition to the digital management of documentation, greater collaboration and communication between teams, minimizing errors and run times.

Business outcome

The adoption of Autodesk BIM methodology for this project allowed the development of a better collaboration and coordination between all involved parties, which led to the improvement of the final project. The methodology allowed for early problem detection and improved construction management through the provision of schedules directly linked to the digital models. Internally, the Autodesk BIM methodology application in this project allowed the development and optimization of workflows between the different departments and consequently increased the quality and detail of the projects developed by Iperforma.

Conclusion

At Iperforma, we highlight the need for Autodesk BIM projects development, recognizing huge benefits on its implementation. PH Informática has been a major partner of the company throughout the decades, and developed a great support during Autodesk BIM implementation in Iperforma, always finding the best solution for our specific requirements.

AEC Collection at the Service of Topography and Scan to BIM at Gaiurb

Since 2002, Gaiurb has had the vast majority of its topographic and cartographic information based and supported in the CAD DWG format. Taking into account the entire base file structure for projects, as well as the production of projects and by-products in the respective vector formats, the need to have a broad and robust system based on Autodesk technology was identified. From the survey phase of the real situation to the final phase of designing a project or complementary analyses, the integration of data and computer platforms is a fundamental and preponderant factor for the organization. Technological integration and data interoperability is the biggest challenge for the entire structure at all levels of municipal management.
