BIM Implementation

Customer challenge

Grupo Norvia is an engineering consultant with more than 30 years activity on several levels, from multidisciplinary engineering studies to supervision and global project management. The national and international experience and the will to be at forefront of the latest technological trends in the AEC industry empowered the emerging importance of the digital transition from traditional work methodology, supported by Autodesk AutoCAD, to the Autodesk Building Information Modelling methodology.

Project goals

Prior to the BIM implementation we had some target objectives that we proposed to pursuit: 1• Increase the compliance level between documents originated from the BIM model; 2• Detecting incompatibilities, as element clashes earlier during the design; 3• Better coordination between design specialties through the BIM model; 4• Improved communication with all involved stakeholders; 5• Increase efficiency in the production process.

Solution

As referred above we at NORVIA chose Autodesk as our software provider in this digital transition. So, to carry out the Autodesk BIM implementation we acquired some AEC Collections, the Autodesk complete software collection for AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) industry. The AEC Collection provided us a set of BIM tools that support projects from early-stage design through to construction.

Business outcome

We have achieved a better and more efficient productive process, not only due to the introduction of BIM methodology in our internal workflow, but due to our investment in research and development for BIM software. We have a R&D team that identifies the processes/workflows that can be automated as well as the workflows that need some adaptation (European market) and develop customized digital solutions to cope with these adjustments or time-consuming routines.

Conclusion

Above all, we from Grupo Norvia highlight the increase in the efficiency of the internal processes. As key benefits from Autodesk BIM implementation we highlight the following: Widespread increase in the quality and level of detail of the BIM developed projects and better project coordination.

AEC Collection at the Service of Topography and Scan to BIM at Gaiurb

Since 2002, Gaiurb has had the vast majority of its topographic and cartographic information based and supported in the CAD DWG format. Taking into account the entire base file structure for projects, as well as the production of projects and by-products in the respective vector formats, the need to have a broad and robust system based on Autodesk technology was identified. From the survey phase of the real situation to the final phase of designing a project or complementary analyses, the integration of data and computer platforms is a fundamental and preponderant factor for the organization. Technological integration and data interoperability is the biggest challenge for the entire structure at all levels of municipal management.
