Lead Furniture Manufacturer One Step Closer to Industry 4.0

Lead Furniture Manufacturer One Step Closer to Industry 4.0

Customer challenge

From the very beginning, BRW S.A. has been designing its products using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software. The development of the company resulted in the critical need to upgrade project documentation management as well as software and process automation. Therefore, a PDM system, Autodesk Vault Professional, was implemented and integrated with the company's ERP system in order to avoid working on non curent data or non finished BOM’s.

Project goals

The following priority project goals were identified: 1. Improving the documentation management process 2. Eliminating gaps and mistakes in BOM structures 3. Eliminating low-value activities from the CAD Data preparation process 4. Implemeting one standard of CAD data preparation.

Solution

PSP Solution was responsible for the entire project, implementing its proprietary tool and standardizing the data on the designed parts and subassemblies. Thanks to this, the processes of creating quotes and orders for sub-suppliers - which are now created automatically from a bill of materials generated by the design software - are efficient. Integration begins at the stage of developing CAD documentation. Constructors, from the level of their everyday work tool, have access to information previously reserved for CRM and ERP systems. The incoming tasks, deadlines, material indexes and the possibility of setting them up, data on the availability of the warehouse assortment or the costs and delivery dates of purchase elements are visible without the need to jump between dialog boxes. As a result, it is possible to manage the project more efficiently at each stage: verification of the project's compliance with the technical guidelines, the assumed budget and the declared delivery time.

Business outcome

Thanks to the integration of CAD data with the ERP system, working with a digital bill of materials (BOM) and process automation, it has become possible to eliminate such phenomena as errors that appear only during assembly, delays in delivery due to the lack of a small purchasing component, or work done on the wrong version of the documentation. In addition, the integration of Inventor and Autodesk Vault with the ERP system allows you to associate components with specific suppliers, which significantly simplified the implementation of purchases and improved the work of the procurement department, as well as virtually eliminated the risk of making a mistake when ordering components.

Conclusion

Thanks to these solutions, design and production has become the heart of the organization's functioning operations, and the data generated at the same time can be used in many areas of the company. This solution has become the first step in plans for further digitalization with the Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage and Forge technology.

Integration of the CAD System with ERP and PDM in Automationstechnik

From the very beginning, Automationstechnik has been designing its devices using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software from the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection. The development of the company resulted in the critical need to upgrade project documentation management as well as software and process automation. Therefore, a PDM system, Autodesk Vault, was implemented and integrated with the company's ERP system in order to avoid costly mistakes and delays, most often appearing during parts assembly.
