KMAI Increases BIM Knowledge, Standards and Collaboration

KMAI Increases BIM Knowledge, Standards and Collaboration

Customer challenge

Kearns Mancini Architects (KMAI) specializes in Architecture, Interior Design, and Passive House design. KMAI approached Redcage seeking to increase overall staff awareness, understanding, and comfortability with BIM. KMAI wanted to increase Autodesk Revit project standards, family creation skills, improving their staff's project troubleshooting, and increase collaboration between team members.

Project goals

KMAI staff are more willing to take on more advanced troubleshooting in projects, as the foundation provided with Redcage training has set the staff up to be successful with project template understanding, reducing time in production and allowing for more collaboration between team members and consultants. Additionally, team members are more comfortable with the requirements of BIM projects and often assist other staff in reviewing project standards and modeling with more challenging projects.

Solution

Building awareness with Autodesk solutions and developing an implementation was advantageous to the KMAI work. Redcage grew our understanding of Autodesk software offerings, to advance our workflow to become more inclusive to the Autodesk environment. Moving to FormIT from Sketchup, to expand the early design modeling possibilities was one example of this.

Business outcome

Confidence levels of the KMAI team have increased and will facilitate better internal collaboration. This was our main takeaway from the training; confidence is huge with REVIT, and this is where we have seen our main growth in staff.

Conclusion

The confidence levels of the KMAI team have increased and will facilitate better internal collaboration. This was KMAI’s main takeaway from the implementation; confidence is huge with REVIT, and this is where they have seen a huge growth in its staff. They have decreased the time it takes to maintain Revit families and with improved standards, they spend less time on design packages.
