Dasco - Reducing the Design to Production Time by 33%

Dasco - Reducing the Design to Production Time by 33%

Customer challenge

Dasco Storage Solutions is a company that specializes in storage. One of Dasco’s challenges was the need to eliminate the lead time from their design phase to production. A lot of time was spent during the design phase, creating multiple physical prototypes and analyzing the designs.

Project goals

Dasco looked for a software solution that would eliminate the need to build physical prototypes, to utilize software that would allow them to work on many design iterations and build digital prototypes, required FEA Analysis and a Data Management solution.

Solution

Redcage worked with Dasco on a discovery and implementation plan that would move them from the current 2D CAD workflow they had to a 3D digital prototyping platform. The solution was to implement Autodesk Inventor, iLogic and Vault Professional. Custom training was developed and rolled out for Dasco employees along with ongoing technical support.

Business outcome

Dasco was able to reduce its design to production lead time by 33%. Dasco is no longer building physical prototypes. Dasco is able to innovate and value engineer new products and existing products by utilizing the Autodesk Product Design and Manufacturing Collection.

Conclusion

Dasco was able to reduce the design cycle time for both their customers and standalone products by moving to a Digital Prototyping environment. Through Redcage's professional services, Dasco was able to achieve its project goals and overcome many challenges.
