EIE Instruments Pvt Ltd has interest in manufacturing, marketing and calibration of scientific instruments and testing equipment for various applications. The company's product ranges from multiple testing equipment across Civil, Pharmaceutical, Petroleum, Paper & Packing, and the Plastic & Rubber industries. They were using Autodesk AutoCAD as CAD tools for all of their design work be it preparation of drawings, 3d Models, Bill of Material, Nesting Layout and even Rendering of machine. With AutoCAD, the work was satisfied but still something was missing. An opportunity was identified to improve the efficiency and ease of use in managing all priority requirements.

Project goals

EIE Instruments was looking for an innovative solution where multiple variants of their designs could be created along with a nesting layout. This solution would benefit the Design Team, as they would not have to repeat designing parts for similar kinds of products required.

Solution

Now with the Autodesk Product Design & Manufacturing Collection, the Company started using Inventor Professional, Inventor Nesting and AutoCAD for design work. With Inventor, they are creating complete parametric designs of their 3D models. They also started configuration of the model with iPart and iAssembly. Inventor iPart and iAssembly helps to create multiple variants of a model with significant ease. Once design is fixed, the Company uses Inventor Nesting to create the nesting layout. With Inventor Nesting, they can automatically create nest layout as per their design needs and export it (DXF file structure) for further manufacturing processing.

Business outcome

Though transition from AutoCAD to Inventor Professional and Inventor Nesting initially demanded time, the time savings enjoyed from the transition was significant as the Company is now able to get good output from their 3D CAD models as well as Nesting of their models.

Now Inventor and Inventor Nesting is the core tool for EIE Instruments to design and create manufacturing layouts for their products.
