Customer challenge

The challenge for the customer was the need to re-typing the same data into multiple data sources. This resulted in time spent on non-value-adding work and a high risk of errors. The customer had to manually retype the same project data into multiple data sources. The impact of this was waste of time and a source for typing errors. They also had to manually update the general document management system manually when data was released in Autodesk Vault.

Project goals

The goal was to integrate the main data sources to minimize the waste of non-value-added work and minimize the risk of typing errors. The expected business outcome was to use the resources to work with more value-added tasks. This would help ITK to be more competitive.

Solution

The solution is based on Autodesk Vault Professional APIs and customizations made from Cadcraft. ITKs project management system Blikk and Vault is integrated to automatically transfer project data from Blikk into Autodesk Vault. Autodesk Vault is also connected to ITKs document management system, M-Files, for non CAD files. When technical data is released in Autodesk Vault, secondary documents are automatically published to M-Files together with corresponding metadata.

Business outcome

With the solution in place ITK can focus on work that gives value to their customers. They have saved both time and minimized error by the integration between their main business critical systems. This has helped ITK with 600 h saved and free up to be used on value-adding work. Also, it is super easy to find the right data
