Customer challenge

The challenges posed by Gasparini SPA were many. After an in-depth analysis and consulting on business processes, the need was identified to implement a new way of managing all business projects through a centralized data management system. Finally, the client wanted to be able to consult all company data on a single mobile platform.

Project goals

The old PDM system was replaced. The project involved a migration of CAD data from the old system to the new PDM chosen, Autodesk Vault. The same PDM was integrated with other ERP and MES tools present in Gasparini. A solution was developed to integrate data coming from Vault, ERP, MES and to provide a visualization of 2D and 3D CAD files through Autodesk Forge. Finally, data of articles and bill of materials from Vault to ERP were integrated.

Solution

Several solutions have been implemented. The first one was the implementation of Autodesk Vault Professional, which allows users to organize data, manage documentation and keep track of revisions. The PDM solution is also integrated with Inventor Professional, AutoCAD, Factory Design Utilities and a non-Autodesk design tool (Eplan).

Business outcome

Product data management systems, such as those for file identification and version control, have allowed Gasparini integrated finishing solutions to simplify engineering processes by responding more efficiently to initial requirements. This has occurred in the integration of the Supplier Management Portal with data coming from Autodesk Vault, including automation for file conversion to PDF and DXF formats.
