Customer challenge

The main challenge for A&T Europe Spa has been to integrate their different enterprise business software CRM, OFFICE, PDM/PLM, ERP, MES through business processes that provide for data sharing and not duplication. Information belongs to the system that generates it, but any other system can access that information because it can be identified by a unique corporate coding.

Project goals

Priority project goals identified were as follows: 1) Integrate pre-sales processes with pre-sales and production design processes, up to the determination of the production BOM (Bill Of Materials) to be sent to the MES (Manufacturing Execution System). 2) The second goal was to manage a single information flow that, starting from the seller, involves the quotation offices, then the mechanical design offices, and finally the production offices.

Solution

The solution provided by Orienta + Trium included Autodesk Revit as quotation software, AutoCAD and Inventor as mechanical and piping design software, and Vault for the management of all project and product information. Vault has been integrated through webService to CRM based on Microsoft SharePoint and Ms Team and the SAP management system; this allows the information to flow between the systems without duplication. The transition between the quoting process and the mechanical design process has also been automated.

Business outcome

A product configurator based on Autodesk Inventor iLogic takes the information from Revit project and automates the production. As a result, A&T Europe Spa reduced production times, and reduced human errors by being able to take advantage of a database distributed and shared. Vault integration with SharePoint and its web module allows the centralization of graphic and product information. Inventor integration with Revit enables A&T Europe Spa to produce a quote design that conforms to customer requirements and obtain a production drawing.

Conclusion

The transition between the quote process and the automated mechanical design process has benefited the client. Product configuration based on Autodesk iLogic technology has automated the production of manufacturing components. A&T Europe Spa has reduced production times, but above all has reduced human errors by being able to take advantage of a shared database distributed across several systems.
