Implementation of CAD / CAM Solutions Accelerating Work and Reducing Costs at Scanfil

Implementation of CAD / CAM Solutions Accelerating Work and Reducing Costs at Scanfil

Customer challenge

The Scanfil Poland Sp. z o.o. deals with the production of products on CNC machines. The orders they accepted were first delegated to third parties to design details. Often times, projects came with mistakes. This generated unnecessary costs and significantly extended the order time. Each change that had to be introduced was associated with setting the date and terms of performance with external entities.

Project goals

In order to change the situation in the company, reduce costs and shorten the time of order fulfillment, it was decided to resign from external designers. Setting up your own design department involved choosing the right CAD / CAM solution, equipment, and hiring and training employees. After the implementation of new solutions and a new department, Scanfil could resign from third-party design services, which would result in significant savings in the conducted orders and better communication within the company.

Solution

The Scanfil Poland Sp. z o.o. introduced the Autodesk Fusion 360 solution in its company. At the beginning it was 11 licenses. New positions are consistently introduced. As suppliers of CAD / CAM solutions, Autodesk Solution Provider PCC Polska provided them with several dedicated trainings conducted at the client's premises. At least 8 people from Scanfil participated in each training. The issues raised during the training focused mainly on the CAM manufacturing module. Additionally, PCC Polska prepared post-processors for the client's CNC machines. Consultations on the best approach to their projects were conducted on an ongoing basis.

Currently, both designers and CAM operators can react quickly and introduce required changes in details. In addition, people were delegated to develop and manufacture elements for the internal needs of the company.

Business outcome

Thanks to the use of Autodesk Fusion 360 and numerous CAM trainings, Scanfil was able to open its own construction and design department and prepare the necessary elements in its company, without the need to outsource it to third parties. Scanfil was able to simultaneously expand its portfolio and gain new customers.

People who previously worked only as CNC operators, thanks to the introduction of Fusion 360, can now design themselves and introduce changes to projects on an ongoing basis, which significantly accelerated the entire process of order fulfillment, and thus also significantly reduced the costs of the entire process.

Conclusion

Proper customer guidance allowed to expand the company's offer. Due to the training of a dozen or so people, the newly created department allowed to significantly accelerate the implementation of projects and reduce the final costs, which translated into a more competitive price offer. Within a year and a half, the number of people responsible for design and production has doubled. The Company also became more independent.

Improving Asset Creation and Pipeline in Game Dev Studio - Render Cube S.A.

Render Cube is an independent Polish game development studio based in Lodz, Poland, providing outsourcing services and later developing games on its own (Monster League, Medieval Dynasty). The main problem after the early release of the second game turned out to be the high expectations of players regarding the quality of the final product. Render Cube wanted to deliver the final version of the game in the highest possible quality. This required filling the whole universe with the highest quality assets and animations. The entire game was built on Unreal Engine, so in order to take advantage of its capabilities, the models had to be prepared in a perfect way with a great topology. Also, the variety of models could have been problematic due to the short time until release.

CERTYFI-CAD: Enhancing and Accelerating the Design Process and Communication with the Customer - PD&M Collection

CERTYFI-CAD is a design office in Rzeszow, Poland, established in 2012. In its activity, it offers services in designing mechanical machines and devices for various industries. In all cases, the scope of design work is agreed with the client and the best variant is proposed in order to achieve the intended effect as soon as possible. The company employs qualified engineers with vast knowledge and experience gained during execution of various projects. Moreover, the team is distinguished by excellent knowledge of 3D design software. During many years of work on various projects, CERTYFI-CAD has developed its own style which is based on involving the client in the project so that the final product is one hundred percent tailored to his needs. One often occurring problem during such cooperation was the lack of an ability to quickly design assembly configurators with different variants of parts or presenting variants of individual parts.
