SSH Achieves 81% Efficiency in Design Change Management Workflows While Working Remotely

Customer challenge

With employees being directed to work remotely, SSH’s top priority was to make sure all staff members are fully equipped for remote working, while ensuring that deliverables are on time, client expectations are met, and that business continued as usual. This decision posed an additional challenge, namely, to move all projects to the cloud and make sure hundreds of employees were able to seamlessly access their projects and collaborate with other specialists and disciplines.

Project goals

There are two key challenges facing leaders across all industries. Firstly, the need to adapt to rapidly evolving market conditions and, secondly, the importance of ensuring employee safety – both on site and in the office. With the adoption of remote working, the Leadership team at SSH has been faced with a raft of new challenges, requiring bold and innovative solutions that fully utilise the available technology. The objective was to improve productivity and efficiency while working remotely.

Solution

SSH was the first company in the Middle East region to adopt the Autodesk Pay-per-Use (PPU) plan since 2019 which was implemented through Omnix. Being a part of this plan allowed SSH to have all user access to the software released by Autodesk with improved productivity and efficiency. BIM 360 and Autodesk's PPU-based licensing model enabled the teams to interact and work collaboratively on the same design model across various disciplines.

Business outcome

Today, SSH is managing numerous projects on Autodesk’s cloud platform, and the firm’s Leadership is quick to applaud the fact that the company is fully functional, with 100% of its employees working remotely. With support for large BIM models and automatic version control in BIM 360, SSH employees were empowered to have 24/7 access to the latest project information, saving approximately 38% of the time taken to locate and open the latest revisions of models and drawings.

Conclusion

"The periodic training webinars provided by Omnix and Autodesk have ensured that our users continue to develop individual skills and knowledge by staying up-to-date with the latest BIM 360 features and products. Consistent interaction with the Omnix and Autodesk teams has also enhanced sharing experiences and suggestions for potential improvements to existing BIM standards and tech services”, added Huzaifa Hussain, Software Asset Manager at SSH.

Engineering Force Endeavoring to Exceed Customer Expectations

The complex nature of the KIPIC Al-Zour Oil Refinery Project called for the right technology to solve the previously encountered challenges. Al Ahlia needed to develop an ecosystem that supports multi-disciplinary teams. Hence, we deployed the complete Autodesk AEC Collection prior to the project so that the software could provide the designers, engineers, and contractors a set of BIM and CAD tools that supported the projects from early stage design through to construction.
