Remote Collaboration on Live Revit Model Between Two Continents

Remote Collaboration on Live Revit Model Between Two Continents

Customer challenge

H+A is a design studio that specializes in designing healthcare and hospitality environments with a multi-disciplinary approach.  The studio has a presence in both the Middle East and Europe, with offices located on two continents. Despite having locations on two continents, the H+A team has previously encountered difficulties collaborating across geographically dispersed teams.

Project goals

H+A had two primary objectives for both of their projects: to increase efficiency and collaboration between teams, ultimately resulting in timely and successful project completion.

To accomplish this, H+A leveraged the capabilities of Autodesk's solutions for the built environment, specifically Autodesk Revit and BIM Collaborate Pro.

These tools were utilized throughout the design, visualization, and collaboration phases of the projects, enabling a streamlined management process. With the implementation of this new technology, H+A aimed to achieve the following goals:

  1. Provide training to their existing team on the usage of Autodesk Docs and BIM Collaborate Pro for their work.
  2. Train the design team on how to establish projects and create Revit Cloud Work-sharing using Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro.

Solution

BIMAGE Consulting, an authorized Autodesk Solution Provider, conducted a training and adoption program for H+A's team to adopt Autodesk Docs and Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro. The training was completed within 5 days and consisted of the following steps, aimed at providing proper support for Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) Adoption Program:

  1. Establishing projects in Autodesk Docs
  2. Working with documents in Autodesk Docs
  3. Creating Revit Cloud Work-sharing
  4. Utilizing automation clash detection
  5. Managing issues that arise during the project

Business outcome

Following the completion of the adoption program, H+A is now equipped to execute projects confidently on the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform. The team has gained proficiency in utilizing the Revit Cloud Workshare Model through the Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro Design Collaboration module and is now able to use the Model Coordination Module for effective clash detection. With the implementation of Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro, H+A can now release project documents on time and with accuracy, allowing for better project control and ultimately resulting in better resource time optimization.

Conclusion

The support provided by BIMAGE Consulting was instrumental in H+A's success in delivering the projects. The software training and technical assistance they received on BIM Collaborate Pro enabled H+A to enhance their project workflow and ultimately grow their business.

Collaboration with teams around the world is now a seamless process, rather than a challenge. The value of these products is evident in their current workflow, as they have become an integral component of their processes. The Principal Architect from H+A expressed his satisfaction with the positive impact of these products on their business.

The Shift from AutoCAD to Intelligent BIM Models

MA Kharafi is an enterprise specializing in construction, with a focus on building, infrastructure, energy, and water supply. At present, the inter-departmental workflows are predominantly based on 2D methodologies. Consequently, the teams tend to operate in isolation, which leads to significant resource expenditure when handling changes and ensuring interoperability. MA Kharafi has planned to adopt Autodesk Revit (for the Building Department) and Civil 3D (for the Transportation Department) software solutions to overcome these challenges.
