Moving Forward with BIM

Moving Forward with BIM

Customer challenge

Ameon approached Autodesk Solution Provider Quadra a year ago when they attended a BIM Information Event hosted by Quadra. The organisation was keen to find out how they could bid on Government-funded BIM projects and improve efficiencies in the process. The small-medium sized organisation highlighted this as an area for development and something they needed to get involved with in order to stay competitive within the industry. This was deemed a priority despite the downturn in the economy and the construction industry as a whole.

Project goals

Ameon wanted to improve collaboration, gain the ability to bid on Government funded projects, and improve proficiencies business-wide.

Solution

It was suggested by Quadra’s skilled BIM advisors that the organisation should migrate from AutoCAD to Autodesk Revit to take advantage of Revit MEP’s technical capabilities. Training was also delivered to ensure the workforce would get the most from the software and also to limit the amount of downtime experienced as the organisation transitioned to the new process.

Business outcome

Since adopting the new software, the organisation has gone from strength to strength, with a new £5m value contract awarded at Lancaster University and a similar value deal in Manchester City Centre. The organisation is looking to the future—and it’s BIM shaped!

Conclusion

Ameon are now able to deliver robust data, enabling them to become key members of collaborative BIM project teams and win significant new business.

Opening Doors | BIM Delivers Results for Industrial High-Speed Door Manufacturer

When Union approached Quadra, they were keen to take their existing Autodesk Inventor models and use them to create fully-rendered Revit Families; built to complement their existing manufacturing processes. This need was further driven by a customer request for BIM-ready models for a large and potentially lucrative contract. Union had been developing doors in Inventor for many years; however, when it became clear that they needed to implement BIM into their designs they turned to Quadra.

Leading the Way | Continuous Improvement for Indusvent

Indusvent has a history of over 50 years in the dust extraction business and has been drawing in 2D AutoCAD® for around 25 of those years. While delighted with the ease of use and reliability of the AutoCAD software, Indusvent wanted to move away from drawing pieces of ducting and equipment line by line, as well as having to complete multiple iterations of elevations. Indusvent wanted a software solution that was 3D-based and would deliver a rapid return on investment (RoI).
