Mould of Windmill Blades by using PowerMill

Mould of Windmill Blades by using PowerMill

Customer challenge

Indutch is a leading manufacturer of highly-engineered composite Patterns, Molds and Components for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers in Wind Energy, Mass Transportation, and Industrial Equipment. Indutch distinguishes itself in the marketplace by its proven competitive advantages in Product Excellence, Process Innovation, Speed to Market, and Superior Customer Service. Indutch Composites Technology Pvt. Ltd aims to be The Global Player in Wind turbine Rotor Blade, nacelle cover/spinner Tooling, Manufacturing & Services for Indian and Global Wind energy organizations. They were facing problems with making the Mould for wind turbine rotor blades due to the length and shape of the mould and its manufacturing process taking a long time for manufacturing one part.

Project goals

The primary goals identified were as follows: 1) To generate, optimize and enable an efficient tool path 2) To reduce cycle time 3) To make sure there won't be any collision of tools during production, so that the machine runs efficiently without holding off production 4) To complete projects on time without investing more on expensive machines

Solution

By discussing the problems faced by Indutch Composites Technology in making moulds of rotor blades, MECHMAN SOLUTION suggested to them to use Autodesk PowerMill Ultimate and Fusion 360 with Machining Extension through which they were able to find an easy way to make moulds for blades on their 65 meter long multi-axis VMC. They now use a different strategy and solution with PowerMill for toolpath and simulation.

Business outcome

After seeing the problems faced by Indutch Composites Technology, MECHMAN SOLUTION offered them the Autodesk PowerMill Ultimate solution. They started using it for programming so that they can utilize 5-axis machines and can optimize the required toolpath. Before, when they were not using the new software, they were not able to work on all axis simultaneously. As a result, production of one blade took too long in comparison to the time taken by machine after deploying the recommended solution. As a result, their cycle time was reduced and they were able to complete jobs on time.

Conclusion

By using the Autodesk PowerMill Ultimate solution, Indutch Composites Technology were able to manufacture their moulds easily due to machine simulation for continuous 5-axis and dynamic machine control for avoiding holder collision. For deep cavity machining, the PowerMill CAM software supports 3 + 2 machining which has also provided a valuable option for 5-axis machining.

Torrenza Mould Craft Achieving Their Goals with Autodesk Solutions

TORRENZA MOULD CRAFT was established in 2006 and is a leading manufacturer, supplier, importer and exporter of Plastic Molded Components. The main challenge they were facing at the production level was not being able to finish the project on time due to some technical issues. In order to solve the problem, they decided to invest more into buying new machinery and hiring more manpower to complete projects on time. Their main concern was how they can utilize their manpower to maximize the productivity without spending more money. They do manufacturing and repairing work of moulds so they have small deadlines but were not able to finish a job in the given time, so to finish jobs on time and without investing more money was the main challenge.

Designing Easier and Smart Representation

Extrusion plant manufacturing is JSK Engineering's line of business throughout India. They create large machines with thousands of parts, which are essentially large assemblies made up of numerous parts. Because it is physically impossible to communicate or quantify the cost of the entire project, they were having difficulty dealing with clients when they had to explain the entire plant to them. Because the entire assembly consists of thousands of small and large parts, they were also having difficulty designing each individual component of the assembly. They also had trouble explaining or presenting the entire project model to the client.
