ICE Industrial Services develops, designs, programs and installs automated machines and lines for major companies around the world. Teamwork and data sharing within a company are essential to the operation of most modern businesses. This is also the case at ICE Industrial Services, a. s. - one of the fastest growing automation companies in the Czech Republic and probably in Europe. For this company, our company ADEON has implemented the Autodesk Vault Workgroup system exactly to measure. Thanks to this, we managed to maximally increase work efficiency, eliminate the risk of knowledge loss and centralize design data.

Project goals

A major milestone in the company's history is the decision to start with the more advanced Autodesk Vault (Workgroup/Professional) program. It's the start of a journey to greater productivity, guaranteed file order and lots of time saved. At the very beginning, the company always receives a detailed proposal (rough analysis) including ROI and it is up to the company to decide whether to go down the upgrade path. This is followed by a detailed analysis of the company's processes or a few sessions with selected people in the company who will work with the design data. Once we have accurately analyzed your needs, we can start programming Vault add-ons to help automate routine activities. At the same time, server configuration and installation begins. As soon as possible, a test run is started to fine-tune the process flows.

Solution

As soon as ICE management approved the deployment of Vault Workgroup, ADEON began conducting a detailed analysis of the company's processes. At the same time as Vault was being deployed, the ERP system was being deployed. Which proved to be an advantage as we were able to work closely with their implementation team, aligning the look and feel of both systems. We were also interested in all the movement of design data in the company. Following on from this, interviews were conducted with department managers to find out how their work with data was going. Consultation with each department head is a necessity to ensure that Vault properly secures the final distribution of documents and design information.

Business outcome

ADEON has added programming modifications to its own functionality of Autodesk Vault. Their goal was to make the work of users easier and more efficient, eliminating activities that can be automated. The result is optimized information communication between Inventor, Vault and the ERP system. An essential part of these program modifications is the building of control mechanisms that will protect data from non-standard work procedures. From the whole analysis, the most necessary thing is to correctly define the key requirements for the future system, which in our case were: 1) to create a central managed repository 2) synchronisation of design data 3) introduce controlled revisions 4) connection to the information system 5) automation of routine work

The first step in the implementation process is to install Vault on the company's server and customize the software to the exact requirements. Different user groups are set up, the documentation, its lifecycles and other requirements resulting from the previous analysis are categorized and classified. A very important step is the gradual testing and commissioning of the programmed applications and services, testing and fine-tuning their functionality. The better the quality of the testing phase, the smoother it is for the company to go live. Even so, minor problems may only become apparent after several months of routine operation.
