Implementation of Fusion 360 with Machining Extension

Implementation of Fusion 360 with Machining Extension

Customer challenge

Toshi Enterprises is a die / mold manufacturers and injection molding focus company and is working for various OEM for plastic parts / component manufacturing. Having a small design studio, they were exploring a cost-effective solution for 3D Modelling and Doing FEA Stress Analysis before sending the 3D model to Manufacturing (CAM). Weekly client coordination also slowed down their design process and a seamless data exchange between 3D CAD Model with the CAM is also what they were looking for.

Project goals

Toshi Enterprises has the two main goals: •Implement software for Better engineering & Manufacturing productivity. •Doing Engineering analysis on the design component.

Solution

Showcased Demo on “Autodesk Fusion 360 with machining extension” for CAD, CAM & CAE. A Proof of Concept (POC) have been showcased where Toshi Enterprises can Import any 3D Model made from any 3D Software to Autodesk Fusion 360 easily and can Generate the NC Code within the same and Implementation done. Engineering Analysis on the design component is also shown.

Business outcome

With better engineering & Manufacturing productivity, optimizing their IT investment made them more competitive in their marketplace “What used to be a problematic work flow between CAD, CAM and CNC machining, has now transformed from nerve wracking to effortless since “Autodesk Fusion 360 with Machining Extension” was introduced. Thanks to Autodesk Fusion 360 with Machining Extension for seamless integration into CAD Modelling to CAM, CNC machining can now be programmed far quicker, processing the residual material runs smoothly and the integrated machine simulation enables reliable control.” Says Mahendra Sharma, Director, Toshi Enterprises After only 2 days during the testing phase, Autodesk Fusion 360 with Machining Extension was the clear favorite. The CAM software was seamlessly integrated into Autodesk Fusion 360 with Machining Extension, fulfilled its function and exceeded all demands placed on it.

Conclusion

Toshi Enterprises has been able to design 3D Model and Importing the 3D Model from other Native Software’s without Data Loss in Autodesk Fusion 360 with Machining . Parallelly can do the Stress Analysis (FEA) and generate the NC Code within the same Fusion 360. It ultimately helps in synchronizing from CAD to CAM and minimize lot of Time. “Autodesk Fusion 360 with Machining Extension was an investment for us and as a business owner, I'm looking for a return on my investment. And I have many things to invest in, in my shop. "With Autodesk Fusion 360 with Machining Extension, I would say that the return on investment was a matter of weeks. Not months or years, it was weeks. And that was paid for primarily in tool life. "What we saved in the first month on tool life paid for the software." We use the new techniques using Autodesk Fusion 360 with Machining Extension for roughing now – full depth and full flute-contact cutting. I’m a big fan of this. It is a lot quicker and the tools lasts.

Karan Motors was incorporated in 1989 and have been focused to manufacture of cylinder heads and engine blocks for over four decades. Providing the best range of Bedford Cylinder Head, BMC Cylinder Head, Caterpillar 3300 Cylinder Head, Caterpillar 3406 Cylinder Head and Caterpillar 3408-3412 Cylinder Head with effective & timely delivery in the Competitive market. Karan Motors also undertakes development of new components by reverse engineering with latest techniques of white light scanning and digitizing. Dimensional data in the form of point clouds and co-ordinates is subject to advanced high-end three-dimensional surfacing and solid modeling software. The result is a net perfect model of the component which forms basis for extraction of tooling for foundry and machine shop. Stocks for tooling are machined on CNC machines for optimum accuracy and then inspected for assembly and trials. Considering all scenarios from Design to Manufacturing, facing problems in editing the surfaces
