Success Story

Helping Indian Army with Autodesk Fusion 360

Helping Indian Army with Autodesk Fusion 360

Customer challenge

This company started in the year 1972 as Iyappan Industries, the company has been providing Quality products and services to various customers in the POWER, RAILWAY and AUTOMOBILE sectors, The company acquired its present name IEIPL (Iyappan Engineering Industries Pvt. Ltd.) in 1992. We are basically working closely with Indian army on the some their components, where the exact names of it cannot be disclosed.

And you might have guessed already how confidential are the projects and what are the feasibility we have in executing the same. We usually do design, optimize, deliver as well as maintenance of the assemblies. The major setback is on the Optimizing the existing design, maintenance and training the team of engineers in the base depot as we cannot carry anything.

Project goals

These are our major goals which we were not able to figure out: one of it would be the training to end user – Indian Army (Held in Jhansi). Next would be during being in the battleground on how to repair our assemblies. Lastly on how to light weight not critical parts and  service our Assemblies in base Depot. Laptops or any digital gadgets are not allowed into the Army depot.

Solution

With Autodesk Fusion 360 , Generative Design and USAM team's well organized training sessions we directly interacted with Army systems and did the assembly presentation and its working.

  • Also, we have clearly explained about mandatory spares and how it can be changed.
  • Got numerous ideas with generative design.
  • When run-time problems occur. checkpoints, they have to consider rectifying the problems.

Business outcome

IEIPL assemblies were proposed earlier. After completing it successfully. We got the order for two more hydraulic assemblies which are imported.

Conclusion

Cloud-based working on Fusion with a basic requirement made it more compatible. We are thankful to USAM for suggesting Autodesk Fusion 360 with extended support on training to achieve such a milestone in a short period of time.

DBMV’s– Plant 3D Piping Traceability

DBMV was originally engaged on the project to assist in the design by producing traceable pipe isometrics to aid with the fabrication and installation of pipe spools on site. During this process, the client wanted to track all materials, joints, welds, and spools through the procurement, fabrication, NDT (Nondestructive Testing), and on-site installation process to minimize disruption to production and supply chain. This required DBMV to track every single item with unique identification.

Increased Efficiency in Engineering and Design

KAMCO, a manufacturing company for agricultural machinery, sought to find an optimal solution for their customers' needs. They have collaborated closely with farmers and recognized their areas of difficulties - a cono-weeder machine. KAMCO then found that they needed to look for a one point solution to overcome their critical design requirements for this cono-weeder machine which requires solid modeling, sheet metal as well as standard frames.
