HAZUPROJEKT - creation of an innovative and unique project in the energy industry

HAZUPROJEKT - creation of an innovative and unique project in the energy industry

Customer challenge

HAZUPROJEKT, carried out a proprietary project to develop and put into production a device that will have applications in the power industry. They want do build an innovative device of overhead vacuum disconnector in a closed enclosure, dedicated to intelligent medium-voltage networks.

The designed device (disconnector), is an electrical apparatus installed on poles in medium-voltage transmission lines. It is responsible for switching on and off currents in fault conditions or planned power outages.

HAZUPROJEKT has extensive experience in the power industry. It is the first Polish company to build a device with such parameters independently and from scratch - without buying a license or design from outside, having the know-how resulting from years of experience.

Mr. Tomasz, owner of HAZUPROJEKT, was co-developer of the first Polish high-voltage switchgear insulated with sulfur hexafluoride (SF6). This insulating medium is now being abandoned, due to SF6's threat to the ozone layer.

The power industry and the apparatuses it uses are moving toward vacuum insulation, as in this case, or replacements for SF6 gas. The disconnector project was subsidized by the National Research and Development Center, the main investor and originator is EKTO from Zaścianek, and lasted from 2018 to the end of 2021.

Project goals

HAZUPROJEKT's goal was to build a device that would successfully achieve the design goals and also to develop a device that would be 100% proprietary, without buying licenses from other companies

Mr. Tomasz Sobczak, owner of HAZUPROJEKT,  is a designer with a mechanical background, so he collaborated with people related to electrical and power engineering. The project was carried out jointly with EKTO, which has experience in design, but also in the implementation, production and servicing of electrical power equipment.

The design goals was creation of low weight drive due to its complexity and function . It is a module that controls the operation of moving contacts that are an integral part of vacuum chambers.

According to the design goals, the actuator had to have the characteristics of the actuator used in circuit breakers, which further increased the complexity of the design by using additional locking and triggering systems for the mechanism. The degree of complication is also increased by the simultaneous control of the contacts of three phases, and thus maintaining a high degree of synchronization of their operation.

Solution

18px;">Ever since the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection package with Autodesk Inventor Nastran, among others, appeared, Mr. Tomasz Sobczak has seen it as a great benefit, since almost all the tools necessary for the entire design stage are included.

The design was created from the first dash in Autodesk programs. All calculations of the gearbox, cam mechanism, locking and triggering systems were made in Inventor and programs available in the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection. Particularly intensive use was made of the Dynamic Simulation and Nastran modules, where the kinematic chain analysis was performed, as well as the strength analysis of the spring tray and the closing and opening bolts.

"Nastran has a much more powerful calculation module, and does not have as many limitations as competing software." Tomasz Sobczak, owner of HAZUPROJEKT

Business outcome

After the implementation of Autodesk Inventor Professional and additional training in Autodesk Inventor Nastran, the client gained access to modern tools and functions that enabled it to perform accurate mechanical calculations and analysis.

As a result, it was able to reduce the weight of products and develop unique technology, resulting in increased quality and productivity.

The final result of the work was the completion of a very demanding device:

  • A complex actuator was developed
  • optimization of many parts was performed
  • the size of parts included in the locking systems was reduced
  • they improved fatigue strength,
  • several thousand duty cycles were successfully completed

Simulations in Autodesk Inventor and Nastran reduced the number of prototype fabrications to only 3.

One of the prototypes has been submitted to Lublin University of Technology for laboratory testing, the second prototype is for internal use, and the third has been submitted for certification.

The device, thanks to careful development of it in 3D, all prototypes, calculations and simulations, passed tests and received certification at the Electrical Engineering Institute in Warsaw.

The certification of the device at the Institute took about a year and the device itself is currently undergoing very rigorous testing under operating conditions.

Conclusion

The implementation of Autodesk Inventor Professional software at Hazu-Projekt Tomasz Sobczak was a milestone on the road to success.

Thanks to the implementation of Autodesk Inventor Professional software and Autodesk Inventor Nastran training, Hazu-Projekt gained a competitive advantage in the market and became a leader in its industry. Thus, the implementation of the software proved crucial to its success and its further development.

Improving Asset Creation and Pipeline in Game Dev Studio - Render Cube S.A.

Render Cube is an independent Polish game development studio based in Lodz, Poland, providing outsourcing services and later developing games on its own (Monster League, Medieval Dynasty). The main problem after the early release of the second game turned out to be the high expectations of players regarding the quality of the final product. Render Cube wanted to deliver the final version of the game in the highest possible quality. This required filling the whole universe with the highest quality assets and animations. The entire game was built on Unreal Engine, so in order to take advantage of its capabilities, the models had to be prepared in a perfect way with a great topology. Also, the variety of models could have been problematic due to the short time until release.

CERTYFI-CAD: Enhancing and Accelerating the Design Process and Communication with the Customer - PD&M Collection

CERTYFI-CAD is a design office in Rzeszow, Poland, established in 2012. In its activity, it offers services in designing mechanical machines and devices for various industries. In all cases, the scope of design work is agreed with the client and the best variant is proposed in order to achieve the intended effect as soon as possible. The company employs qualified engineers with vast knowledge and experience gained during execution of various projects. Moreover, the team is distinguished by excellent knowledge of 3D design software. During many years of work on various projects, CERTYFI-CAD has developed its own style which is based on involving the client in the project so that the final product is one hundred percent tailored to his needs. One often occurring problem during such cooperation was the lack of an ability to quickly design assembly configurators with different variants of parts or presenting variants of individual parts.

Juice - improving communication in creating animations and special effects - implementation of ShotGrid (Shotgun) in Visual Effects & Sound Studio

Juice - a full-services Visual Effects & Sound Studio with strong branches in VFX, animation and design - has worked on long, short, TV and feature productions for HBO, Dolby, BMW, Mercedes, Coca-Cola, Nike, Netflix, Sony Entertainment, 20th Century Fox, and the BBC (e.g: Margrete –Queen of the North”- feature film; commercial of Playstation5, Xiaomi MI11I, Samsung; trailers: „Ares – Our greatest adventure”, Cyberpunk 2077 –Official E3 2019”, Netflix – The Liberator – TV series and many others). The company has many different departments: ART, COMPO, FX, LIGHTING, ADMINISTRATION and IT. Teams of writers, artists, audio post producers, and production supervisors dote over each delicate creation with skill and passion. With each project they want to give as much creativity as possible. But Juice had problems with project management and communication at what stage a given/specific project is at a given moment as well as with the flow of current information within the company.
