Fusion Implementation

Fusion Implementation

Customer challenge

For almost three decades, Jendamark Automation in South Africa has been growing an internationally respected brand by delivering world-class turnkey production solutions. They pride themselves on being the best in core manufacturing focus areas of powertrain and catalytic converter assembly systems. Jendamark have expanded their digital manufacturing technologies and also ventured into power electronics assembly systems for the electric vehicle market. Jendamark was now exploring alternative options for programming software in their Machine Shop.

Project goals

Jendamark identified the main areas requiring improvement as follows: 1) To improve (CAM) programming time – by simplifying programming processes 2) To reduce the cost (initial capital outlay and subscription services) of programming software 3) To obtain reliable local program support and training

Solution

As Jendamark was already utilizing Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Fusion was a logical option to pursue due to their familiarity with: 1) Autodesk software 2) Possible integration between native Inventor data and Fusion 360 3) Customer service and support offered by Autodesk Solution Provider Micrographics (MGFX)

Business outcome

The following significant business outcomes were enabled from the project: 1) Jendamark reduced programming time by roughly 20-25 %. 2) The scrap rate is now at its lowest ever, at roughly 0.6%. 3) The machine run times relative to dedicated time is on average 85-90%.

Conclusion

"The implementation of Fusion 360 into the Jendamark manufacturing environment was made simple and easy with the support of MGFX. At Jendamark, we are not looking for suppliers. We are looking for partners who will stand with us through the good and the bad. Partners who keep us on the front foot with new developments in technologies and offerings. I see MGFX as such a partner in our business." - Marinus van Rooyen, Manufacturing & Assembly Manager at Jendamark Automation

How Astratek Group Improved Its Digital Workflow

The Astratek Group is multi-disciplinary in nature, and are often faced with challenges that require collaboration between the fabrication and design arm of the company group. But often workflow is interrupted where particular software within the Autodesk family does not transfer accurately or at all. An example of which would be the fragmented relationship between Revit, Inventor and Advance Steel.
