Success Story

Kömmerling, part of the German Profine Group, is active in the Netherlands with the brand K-VISION Kozijnen. They make frames that have been specially developed for the Dutch market. Over time they started to notice that there was a lot of demand from the market for Autodesk Revit families. K-VISION didn't have these families yet, but they did want to create these to keep up with the times and stay ahead of the competition. That is why they were looking for a partner who could help them with this.
Kömmerling asked Autodesk Solution Provider ICN Solutions for help in creating the families because they couldn't do this themselves. The goal of this project was to create Revit families for the products of Profine K-Vision. These had to be very comprehensive to meet the demand of all different customers.
Kömmerling sat down with ICN Solutions to discuss what they wanted and how they could achieve it. Together with ICN Solutions they came up with a plan for Revit families. In this plan, they also included the architect’s point of view: what would an architect like to see in these families? ICN Solutions then elaborated on this plan. The families would be so flexible and adaptable that you could make almost all the frames that could occur in a building with it. That way, every customer would benefit from using these families.
The Revit families are currently being used by various parties; they are very satisfied with it. The architects are happy that Kömmerling can offer these families, and the flexibility of these families also ensures many positive reactions. It will be an ongoing process to refine the families and ensure they are kept up to date. This will therefore continue to be done in collaboration with ICN Solutions.
Thanks to these new families, Kömmerling meets the demands of the market. Because K-VISION and their families can already provide the right information in the preliminary phase, the architect does not have to look any further. The flexibility of these families also means that architects can almost always use them in their Revit models of buildings. As a result, Kömmerling now occupies a prominent place in the world of window frames.

Search Made Easier with Programmed Tool in AutoCAD
Thermo Electric Instrumentation is a company that makes temperature sensors, mainly for the oil and gas industry. All sensors they make are customer specified and drawn in AutoCAD. Thermo Electric was still working with an outdated AutoCAD version in 2016: AutoCAD 2000. This version was no longer supported and had to be updated. However, they had attached a search system that they had written themselves years earlier, and the person who made this system was no longer employed by Thermo Electric. They had to install a new AutoCAD version, but they also wanted to take this self-written system with them.
Migration to Autodesk Vault Workgroup 2021
Moonen Yachts is a company that designs, sells, and builds yachts. Within the company, they use Autodesk Inventor to model and manufacture the interiors of these yachts. They store all these designs in Autodesk Vault Basic. The Autodesk Vault and the server they were using were both outdated, and they were eager to move to a new environment. However, they ran into several problems. No migration was possible due to an old Windows environment; no additional server for migration was possible due to a lack of total space on the server environments; and no backup was possible for transferring due to insufficient disk space on the current server. If Moonen Yachts would continue to work like this, they would soon run out of space in the Autodesk Vault for their files and backups. It was necessary for them to migrate the Autodesk Vault, but they had limited resources to solve these problems. They were in a tight spot and asked for help from Autodesk Solution Provider ICN Solutions.
From 2D Design to 3D Modeling for Agricultural Industries
Van Dun Advies mainly works for agricultural companies and industry in rural areas, designing stables and commercial buildings, and realizing them thereof, for example. Van Dun Advies started 3D modeling in addition to 2D CAD drawing since customers asked for 3D models, because these clearly show what has been designed and will be built. A transition to 3D modeling appeared to be difficult, because the designers did not have software and skills for efficient 3D modeling at their disposal.
