Project goals

Ed-van was using only Autodesk AutoCAD software in their design and production processes. However, producing CAD data in a 2D environment was not sufficient for gaining new customers and collaboration. There were rework at tendering processes for each different customer whom the sale and marketing teams get in touch with. In addition, in every new project, time and data were lost in the communication between the sales-marketing and R&D teams.

In this project as Cadbim;  we aimed to make Edvan win more bids by increasing the communication between sales and R&D teams for faster and more accurate quotation. Also they can now  provide 3D product visuals and factory design layouts to present the finished product to the customer.

Solution

We offered the customer the Autodesk Product Design & Manufacturing Collection , which includes solutions such as Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Inventor Nastran, Autodesk Inventor Nesting, Autodesk Vault Professional software and our training and consultancy services as part of our solutions to this project.

Business outcome

Designs were created in 3D with Autodesk Inventor software. In order to submit the quotation quickly; the 3d model of product was created for desired requirements. All the BOM lists were obtained automatically and cost study became easy to calculate. In addition, 3D visuals and layout pictures of the product to be submitted to the customer were created, and supporting data was transferred to the sales-marketing team.

With Autodesk Inventor software, designs were created in a 3D modeling environment. In order for the companies contacted by the sales-marketing team to be quickly submitted, a 3D model of the product was created according to the desired requirements, and the necessary settings were made to automatically obtain the product list for pricing. All the material list related to the product was obtained automatically and cost study became possible to be done quickly. In addition, 3D visuals and layout pictures of the product to be submitted to the customer were created, and supporting data was transferred to the sales-marketing team.

Relevant settings have been defined to create technical drawings required for manufacturing over 3D CAD data and share them with production. A company template was created with Autodesk Vault Professional to store, share all design files and documents. Thanks to the storage of data with Microsoft SQL Server defined on the physical server of the company, the history of all files can be reported by following the version and revision. From now on multiple staff can work on the same project. In addition, since the sales-marketing and design team alongside with the production team were in different locations, the “Replication” feature on the Autodesk Vault professional software was used. Thus, even if the communication between the servers in two different locations is broken, as soon as the communication is established, all the operations on the Vault software can be synchronized simultaneously so data loss is prevented.

Conclusion

With the help of Autodesk Inventor Professional software, the company has moved the entire design process to the 3D modeling environment. The usage of of 3D modeling processes in quotation stages reduced their response time to customers by approximately 40%. In addition, the accuracy of the data transferred to production was ensured at a rate of 100%, preventing possible cost losses and delivery time delays. A data management template of the company was created with the help of Autodesk Vault solution. Regardless of the circumstances, the entire team was able to access each other's files within their authority. Data security was ensured by creating a history of the files along with the version and revision tracking.

Ordinat Plant 3D Workflow Implementation

Established in 1997, ORDİNAT İnşaat provides construction, assembly, manufacturing and engineering services with a focus on engineering and technology. The company has the necessary machinery-equipment park required by the technology, together with its engineering, assembly and manufacturing staff. It stands out especially with the timely and high quality completion of turnkey commitments in construction, mechanical manufacturing and assembly works related to the petro-chemical industry, natural gas, energy and aviation sectors. Ordinat İnşaat used AutoCAD and different design software for their projects. Since the number of objects used in the projects was increasing, the project densities and file sizes were negatively affected by this situation. The rapid revision of projects according to customer requests and site conditions was the biggest challenge. Another important challenge was the difficulty of creating their own object libraries and transferring them to other software.

EYS Metal Moving to 3D

Exporting a majority of its production, EYS Metal is one of the leading manure management companies in the world today. Due to lack of 3D solid model files, EYS Metal was unable to use CAM software automatically. They were unable to send the right data to production on time. Service departments were unable to manage the demands coming from customers.
