Customer challenge

M-D2 used Inventor 2012. They had problems with the high-assembled parts and the up-to-date data. They were using older workstation computers created for the 2012 version. They needed simulation and dynamic testing of the damping element that they developed for the rocket project with the defense industry.

Project goals

M-D2's existing and new designs will benefit from up-to-date features. Special damping elements in the design will be tested by performing dynamic analysis with Inventor Nastran. While improving this special design, buckling, thermal-stress and seismic test performance will be checked. All these studies should be under control and shareable over Vault data management.

Solution

With the demo made to them, the simulation needs were met with Inventor Nastran. With a special workstation configuration created for Inventor 2021, we implemented the most efficient and fast working environment for them. Upon their desire to streamline their existing data and work in teams in new projects, we provided them with the Vault Professional infrastructure, data standards and the server system where they can use this system.

Business outcome

Since our customer is an existing Inventor user, the features that come with the new version accelerated the design process. The analysis and design optimizations within the design area were carried out with the reliable Nastran solver. Vault Professional has provided an effective solution for determining data and workflow in all design processes. With the thin client feature, it has become very easy to share the latest revision in data sharing with customers.
