Success Story

Continuous Improvement at ABRAZIV Ltd.

Continuous Improvement at ABRAZIV Ltd.

Customer challenge

ABRAZIV Kft. has been dealing with shot blasting machine development and manufacturing since their foundation. This was later supplemented by the production of bulk handling solutions for the feed industry. The Company has constructed quite a few complete feed plants in recent years. The Company was seeking business process improvements to gain more efficiency.

Project goals

ABRAZIV's machine production is mostly based on sheet metal work, so the team had to develop sheet metal processing to a very high level. Obviously, product development is a constant topic at the company.

Solution

ABRAZIV's first purchase was an early version of Autodesk Inventor, and since then they have used every version. Over the years, the software has evolved in a direction that suits the team well. Significant upgrades were made in the handling of sheet metal structures and large-scale assemblies. These are very useful for the Company, since the most time-consuming activities, such as opening large compilations or producing the drawing view, are now considerably shortened. ABRAZIV has also been using Autodesk Navisworks software, ever since it became available. It can handle collisions very well.

Business outcome

ABRAZIV has chosen Autodesk Inventor as their design software and today their whole design team uses it exclusively. It is a well-proven software, easily learned by the team's engineers. It is a great help to the colleagues in the workshop as well, since they can now visually see what the finished product will look like. Customers love that they can get a 3D model of their plant which they can use to visualize and look around on their own.

Conclusion

ABRAZIV is not only present in the Hungarian market but it is very active in the surrounding countries as well. So much so that they established a subsidiary in Romania. This site is currently under construction, a 1000 m2 production hall with associated office and social facilities.

Process Automation at Colas Hungary

An essential part of quality assurance for road construction is continuous sampling of the different layers (soils and road structure). The quality assurance engineers lay out the locations of the sampling points along the road. Then the site engineers coordinate the sampling based on layout plans. The results and samples are sent back to the lab for evaluation. Once the detailed analysis is done, the data is sent back to the site. This is a time consuming manual process with room for errors.

Zip Tech Project with HungaroCAD

In the recent years, it is clear that customer needs have changed. There is an increasing need to customize products. The size and shape of the space available can also be a challenge. Another difficulty is to make changes to the model during the design process, which may be due to new information, a changed need, or simply a design decision. Tracking and adapting these changes is a challenge to designers on a daily basis.
