Conco Companies Increases Speed of Revit Save and Sync Times with Topcon Solutions

Customer challenge

A large commercial concrete contractor located on the west coast, Conco Companies (Conco) is an integral partner on many different architecturally distinguished projects. As Conco grew over the years to cover the western coast while working from servers between offices, they saw a need to increase the speed of Revit save and sync times of files to their server in order to execute on the uptick in projects. Through conversations with Topcon Solutions, Conco sought a solution for their needs.

Project goals

Conco had two main goals in mind: 1) Source software that increased the speed of save and sync times for Revit models and other files 2) Discover ways to evolve their file sharing process without losing operational efficiency

Solution

Following discussions with Conco, Topcon Solutions introduced and onboarded the Conco team to Autodesk BIM 360. Topcon Solutions provided Conco with training and support to discover how using BIM 360 for Revit model file sharing accelerates saving and syncing in the office and from remote settings to help their teams coordinate and execute quickly on a variety of commercial concrete projects.

Business outcome

After implementing BIM 360 in their file sharing process, Conco’s team saw their average sync time for Revit models drop from 30 minutes to under 2 minutes. Conco’s team notes the ability to have numerous team members working within the same module without versioning issues is also creating positive impacts for their projects and team coordination. Considering time savings and a boost in productivity, Conco reported they’ve seen BIM 360 essentially pay for itself.

Conclusion

Topcon Solutions provided Conco with a means to not only increase their file sharing and coordination process, but also help their teams discover further ways to utilize BIM 360 within their operations. Conco expanded their use of the tool to include managers, engineers and superintendents to provide them ways to visualize and convey project needs while in the field. This time savings and increased collaboration between the office and the field allows Conco to execute projects more effectively.
