Carmel’s Group of companies, have manufacturing facilities in Nigeria, one in Port Harcourt and one in Lagos and also 2 in the UK at Ely, Cambridgeshire, one for sheet metal work and one for precision machining.
Carmel’s Group produces precision parts for the oil and gas industry and also scientific industries around Cambridgeshire and beyond.
Carmel’s Group currently run over 16 cnc machines across the group, and each is operated by a single manned operator.
They recently won a contract to machine over 500 HVCC Belleville Housings and HVCC Cover Cap. The Belleville housing alone has a cycle time of over one hour, and therefore they want to able to produce these components more efficiently.
Their aim is to improve efficiency by loading the parts on to multiple pallets (10) of their newly acquired machine tool. The machine will automatically load itself with parts throughout the night and weekends – totally unmanned once loaded.
Carmel’s Group had several main goals to achieve at the start of this project:
Carmel’s contacted Autodesk Solution Provider IndieCAM Ltd during mid-2023, inquiring about the availability of a Fusion 360 with FeatureCAM Post Processor and Machine Simulation model for a Matsuura MX-330, Multi Pallet 5-Axis Machining Center. They also enquired about further training for their Fusion 360 with FeatureCAM CAD/CAM Autodesk software to enhance and expand their 5 axis machine usage.
Carmel’s have achieved their aims and goals through their partnership with IndieCAM Ltd – Fusion 360 with FeatureCAM CAD/CAM software provider and Matsuura UK (Machine Provider). They now achieve lights out and unmanned running both overnight and on long weekends. Efficiency on many of their parts has improved, and this has also freed-up other machines for prototype development and other new business.

NuMachine Fulfills Long-Term Contract with Automotive Customers
NuMachine Ltd, have manufacturing facilities at: Hereford, Herefordshire, UK, and they are also part of a much larger group of companies – Sarginsons Industries Ltd. NuMachine Ltd have expertise in machining lightweight components; e.g., Automotive Castings. Sarginsons Industries Ltd produces the castings. Their current methods: they have over 15 CNC machining centers and some 9 CNC multi-tasking turning centers, none of which are large enough to produce in volume ‘B Pillars’ and ‘Suspension Mountings’ for their automotive customers. Therefore, new plant and machinery needed to be sought.

PCML Group of companies, have manufacturing facilities at: March, Thorney and Teversham, Cambridgeshire, UK and also at Sandy, Bedfordshire, UK. PCML Group produces precision parts for medical devices and scientific industries around Cambridgeshire and beyond. PCML Group wanted to able to produce many of their ‘longer running’ and ‘higher volume’ components more efficiently. Their current method; they have over 65 cnc machining centers across the group, whereby each is operated by a single manned operator on a shift. Each machine is manually loaded with parts by the operator to meet their production targets. Their aim is to improve efficiency on some of their longer running and higher volume parts by loading multiple pallets (32) full of the parts that are required. The machine will therefore load itself with parts throughout the night and weekends – totally unmanned once loaded.
