Project goals

I was looking to finally get an education in my “first passion”. I have started and stopped CAD certificate programs in the past and it was time to make the move to get it done.  This will hopefully transform into a career outside of the military.

Solution

I could not have asked for a better experience communicating with the staff and faculty.  Everyone was quick to respond and answer my questions in each course.  I also appreciated everyone working with me when schedule changes or technical issues occurred.

Business outcome

Though my current career is not in the CAD arena, this training helped me to better comprehend some of the technical tools we use to support our military.

For my future career in drafting and design, this program taught me very valuable skills and attention to detail that will help me produce quality drawings.

Conclusion

My favorite courses were in BIM.  Revit surprised me and I grew to really enjoy its functionality.

From Construction to Architecture: How VDCI and Autodesk Revit Launched John’s New Career

John Sikora began his career in the construction industry, performing basic tasks such as cleaning up houses. Despite his interest in advancing within the architectural field, he faced significant barriers: limited technical skills, no formal training in design software like Autodesk Revit, and difficulty finding flexible, affordable educational options. His lack of specialized knowledge restricted his career growth, making it challenging to qualify for roles beyond entry-level construction work.
