Success Story

BIM Adoption and Model Management with Autodesk AEC Solutions

BIM Adoption and Model Management with Autodesk AEC Solutions

Customer challenge

CSP PROIECT LINE is a Romanian design company specialized in MEP engineering.

The company portfolio includes residential, commercial and warehouse projects, but also special design projects like healthcare centers.

Because in the last years BIM technology became widely used in construction projects, with developers and CGs more aware of the advantages provided by BIM workflows, CSP PROIECT LINE decided to switch to BIM ready applications usage for their design processes. Also since the most complex coordination effort in a construction project is allocated to MEP engineering, the company aimed to develop internally BIM coordination capabilities.

Project goals

BIM adoption, change existing design workflows and switch to BIM operations.

Implement parametric design.

Develop content creation abilities and customization skills.

Implement model management software solution.

Adopt cloud usage for collaboration with various project stakeholders.

Solution

First a business processes review was conducted to assess actual design capabilities in the client’s company.

CADexpert NET recommended Autodesk AEC Collection as the best software solution to cover all the project goals.

Autodesk Revit was recommended for replacement of AutoCAD based solutions and achievement of BIM operations. Users were trained to use Revit MEP for design of ventilation, heating, sanitary and electrical installations and develop good family and content creation skills for customization purposes.

For design to fabrication processes, Autodesk Fabrication CADMEP was implemented.

Navisworks Manage was implemented for model management and coordination purposes, introducing users to model aggregation, model inspection, model review and Clash detection module.

When the design workflow was completely switched to BIM technology, Autodesk Docs was implemented for collaboration on projects, document management and document approval workflows.

Business outcome

CSP PROIECT LINE developed a new workflow for designing MEP installations projects.

By implementing Autodesk Revit MEP, their projects became aligned to BIM standards, with parametric 3D models, automated schedules and BOMs. Using Revit MEP models also paved the way for performing Energy Analysis with Insight, which is also part of the Autodesk AEC Collection.

CSP PROIECT LINE can now perform model coordination with Navisworks Manage, in order to detect and avoid costly clashes early in the design process.

By using Autodesk cloud services, they can share information and real-time collaborate with other design teams and different project stakeholders.

Conclusion

"CADexpert NET consultants did a great job working with our engineers. They were always available to answer our questions, they were proactive and anticipating our problems. Our mixed teams achieved all project goals in a timely manner. It was a real pleasure to do business with CADexpert NET.”

Silviu POP, General Manager from CSP PROIECT LINE

Build Corp Development Reaches Success with Autodesk AEC Solutions

As a General Contractor, Build Corp Development is trying to aggregate projects and integrate different design teams and different disciplines to obtain a suitable workflow. Because the Architects Team, MEP Engineers and Structural Designers worked in a mostly heterogeneous 2D and 3D mixed environment, projects often lacked proper coordination. Consequently, costly clashes, delays and non-conformities piled-up. Also, engineers charged with the quantity takeoff and bidding activities had to work with poorly documented projects, which made it difficult to keep up with modifications and revisions. Due to a successful collaboration with CADexpert NET, Build Corp Development found a solution to bring all the design teams onto a suitable workflow and integrate BIM technologies with their projects.

ASM Ventilatii Incalzire – Design and Build of Industrial Cleanrooms with Autodesk AEC Solutions

ASM Ventilatii Incalzire is a young Romanian company based on a team of professionals with more than 20 years of practice which provides services and turn-key solutions for the food manufacturing, microelectronics, healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. Due to the high requirements and technical specifications for the biotechnology field, which has to avoid the slightest contamination from any unwanted source, ASM Ventilatii Incalzire had to create an environment where specific high-demand and precise operations can be carried out.The company initiated a new project, aiming to provide complete design, build and certification solutions for industry-specific Cleanrooms.Due to a long standing collaboration with Autodesk Solution Provider CADexpert NET, a mixed team was created bringing together Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) professionals from both companies to implement a new software solution for the Cleanrooms project.
