Customer challenge

BEC was following the typical AutoCAD 2D drawings made by the AutoCAD Draftsmen. These were followed across all departments. They were generating the drawings in 2D layout and Engineers reviewed the drawings, and included their feedback. The process was taking significant time. BEC was getting delayed in submitting the projects. This scenario gave us the chance to propose our solution of BIM Implementation and Training to the BEC team and thereby giving them a permanent solution.

Project goals

The implementation of BIM for the BEC team was IMTAC's flagship project, focusing on the implementation of BIM and the training of users in the engineering department of the Bhawan Engineering Company (BEC).

Solution

IMTAC proposed the entire BIM Solution. It includes Autodesk AEC Collection software licenses for all the users, training for all three disciplines (Architecture, MEP, Structure) on Revit, and Navisworks within their organization. Also, IMTAC has provided BEC with dedicated BIM Managers and BIM Coordinators to provide on-floor support to BEC employees for a successful implementation of BIM. Implementation and support were provided during six months, as well as the training.

Business outcome

IMTAC was able to successfully implement BIM across all the Engineering disciplines of BEC. After implementation, BEC has made it its mission to follow BIM standards in all its future projects. All BEC users are now well trained in the use of AEC products and have successfully implemented BIM. This project has enabled BEC to begin participating in Ministry projects that require mandated BIM standards for their delivery.

Conclusion

IMTAC has been supporting BEC throughout the project cycle by constantly meeting all the requirements or queries arising during the implementation phase of BIM. Our training and implementation team has taken great care in providing top-class training to all the BEC users so that they will be capable of handling BIM projects. This strategy proved its worth and we had successfully completed the project and raised the BEC team to BIM standards.
