Success Story

Autodesk PowerMill Robot

Autodesk PowerMill Robot

Customer challenge

Lert Thermoform's challenges include improving efficiency, achieving significant ROI, and properly keeping up with new technology advances. The Robotic system together with advanced CAD/CAM software is one of the recent technology innovations available to help reach the efficiency improvements desired along with achieving a significant ROI quickly.

Project goals

The goals of this project is to improve efficiency by producing faster and more accurately. Also, the company wanted to increase their output capability from 2-3 sets to 6-8 sets per month. The desired outcome is to build a strong production process that is based on Robotic solutions. Then, the company can be confident to expand their market share and sell more of their products.

Solution

Lert Thermoform made the decision to invest in Autodesk PowerShape (CAD) and PowerMill (CAM) software with ABB robot attach and with the FIMEC router spindle. Intensive training was also delivered by CADCAMTHAI to one of the Senior Process Engineers for one month to help enable stronger hardware, software and machining skills.

Business outcome

After implementing the new system and delivering on the job training, the new business workflow enabled has simplified and saved the team significant time compared with the conventional methods previously utilized which was a very labor intensive approach. The production of new thermo forming tooling now runs smoothly using Robot Milling driven by NC data from Autodesk PowerMill and the new tooling design handled by Autodesk PowerShape software. The quality of the toolings are much better and more consistent in quality. The tooling making forecast is more accurate with faster output, leveraging the enhanced parts production and marketing speed. Lert Thermoform tool capability increased from 2-3 to 6-8 sets per month. The labor required with the former conventional process moved to focus on the finishing stage due to the much better quality of the pattern made from the Robot Milling system.

Conclusion

The return on investment is expected to be 10-12 months. The new digital workflow replacing the conventional, labor-intensive workflow helped Lert Thermoform to have much more time to focus on the launch of new products and marketing expansion. The support of the tooling through the parts production process, the tremendous speed of tooling development, and the time to production improvement for new products all contributed to significant time savings. “Thank you to Autodesk technology and the CADCAMTHAI team for helping us implement the latest technology successfully which has transformed our workflow to a new digital-oriented workflow and knowledge base." - Mr. Jaroon, Managing Director, Lert Thermoform Co., Ltd.

Success Story of Multi-Axis Machining

C.S. Engineering Autoparts’s challenge includes expanding their 5-axis CNC’s capability to serve the growing customer’s demand. The investment on 5 a-xis machine was done years ago but focus on simple shape part machining only. In order to get full advantage of the 5 axis machining technology, the use of high end CAM software is necessary together with well-training users program. This is the reason CADCAMTHAI introduce Autodesk PowerMILL Ultimate software to this company.
