Bucks University Students Thrive Using Fusion 360
A new course to join the university recently was ‘Production Design’ headed up by the talented Karen Roch – who has a wealth of knowledge in all things film, cinema, and prop making. The Production Design course at Bucks University teaches students how to embrace their creative side and develop the skills they require to bring productions and performances to life. Karen Roch, Senior Lecturer and Course Leader of this new course at the University, was insistent that her students use the best software and technology to enhance their learning experiences. Reaching out to her contacts in the film industry, it all pointed in one direction. Autodesk Fusion 360 was being used in many big feature films in the US filmmaking industry, and for them was a game-changer for set design and prop making.

Great British Sports Cars Success with Autodesk CAM Solutions
Great British Sports Cars was started in 2007 with the introduction of the Zero being their first car. This has developed and refined over the years, with more and more components being designed and manufactured in-house, with investment in CAD and CAM software and machinery. From the start of GBS doing their own in house CNC machining, they were using CAM software from one of Autodesk’s competitors. This initially worked for them but they eventually had many issues and this software didn’t support the manufacture of more complex parts. They knew it was time for a change. For Great British Sports Cars as a company, it was a tough decision to change CAM software and suppliers as they have hundreds of parts/programs already being used and the staff were trained and familiar with it (although a little frustrated at its lack of capabilities). Not only this, but GBSC had a busy schedule ahead but knew that a change was needed in order to push the business forward.

AE Aerospace Reaps Success with Autodesk PowerMill
AE Aerospace is a machine to print, subcontract precision machining company for the aerospace and marine, civil and defence industries. The company manufactures low to medium volume prototype components, through to original equipment and higher volume manufacture, together with spares and legacy parts. AE Aerospace uses CAD/CAM software to develop offline programs for manufacture on the shop floor. To drive efficiencies, the company is looking to do all the programming within the engineering office and have nothing carried out at the machines themselves. AE’s previous software system was, however, failing to deliver the speed and efficiency it was looking for.
