In this course you will study and implement techniques for modeling and rendering high-resolution tiling textures in 3ds Max software for design visualization, simulation, and games. Starting with a highly detailed model, you will set up a camera and lighting rig using mental ray software for rendering. Additionally, we will set up the rig to produce a tiling texture without perspective using the mental ray software Production Shaders. Then using render passes and render layers, you will produce albedo, diffuse, normal, specular, mask, and ambient occlusion images suitable for a physically based rendering workflow used in modern rendering and game engines.

This intermediate class will discuss the new physical based materials [we call �Prism',] found in the cloud-rendering service and Fusion 360. We will discuss this new initiative and then take a peek into some future looking initiatives. The class will also discuss the basic material types available, how they are used and why they help achieve photorealistic design visualizations. The attendees will understand the requirements of texture creation/preparation and what makes a �good material'. They will also learn how to fully take advantage of the material models and rendering tools in the Fusion 360 app and in the Autodesk 360 cloud-computing platform.

This class will teach you the basics of Autodesk VRED real-time visualization software, and afterward you should be able to import and stage any vehicle. Dawn McArdle will demonstrate first-hand the simple workflows and tips and tricks gained from hours of her experience. You will learn this program quickly and should be able to immediately implement it with confidence. Using provided 3D vehicle files and 2D texture files, you will learn how to navigate, import, and prepare the vehicle model, assign materials, and set up lighting/shadows. Students will set up moving parts on the vehicle, and animate the camera. Some camera effects, such as depth of field and motion blur will be demonstrated. Finally, we will pull it all together by setting up variants (key-prompted commands to show variations during presentations) and output rendered images, with an understanding of the many options available for openGL and raytracing.

In the class, you'll learn how to use your FormIt 360 data for high-end presentations in the product and with other software from Autodesk, Inc. We will cover several exporting file formats (including FBX, OBJ, and DAE) and demonstrate how these work best with other applications such as InfraWorks software and 3ds Max software. You will learn best practices for working with materials, lighting, and cameras across each software platform, and we will review different rendering engines for stills versus animations. This instructional demonstration is designed for architects, product designers, and anyone needing real-time and interactive visualization, and will showcase a workflow between Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Maya and Unity. The instructor will cover best practices for exporting a building model from Revit, and importing it into Unity. Using the new high-fidelity FBX roundtrip workflow between Maya and Unity, the instructor will remodel assets in Maya and show instantly updated results in Unity, for a highly iterative roundtrip workflow. The instructor will also cover a variety of techniques for rapidly polishing the materials and lighting in a scene in Unity, adding interaction, and building to a multitude of platforms including VR.

This session will cover collaboration between architects and design visualization specialists within the Live Design network. Once a Revit software user generates an Autodesk Revit LIVE project, any design visualization specialist can jump in and take that project to another level. Using knowledge from 3ds Max software and the Stingray game engine, let’s see how we can easily add dynamic content to create an immersive presentation. Game engine technologies can really enhance the design visualization process—it’s all about real-time storytelling! This hands-on lab will give an overview of the power of each software system when they’re combined.
