This class will look at a case study of the process used to collect data from design through construction to hand over models with embedded data for building operations and maintenance. With 4 projects and 2 million square feet of floor space, we needed to develop a process to link the design model to construction and then to as-built models. Follow the round trip of data as we take design data from Revit software to BIM 360 Glue software to BIM 360 Field software back to the model for project handover. Learn the process of collecting data during construction and linking data from Procore to BIM 360 Field with the Forge platform. Understand the steps involved to gather and deliver data-rich models for facilities to use in operation and maintenance.

Immersive technology in construction has largely been defined as the use of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality or Mixed Reality tools to visualize proposed designs, identify and improve space planning, or to communicate design intent to a greater community. Unfortunately, disproven workflows during the construction phase on unproven hardware represent too great of a risk for construction firms to invest in either. This session will demonstrate how architects, engineers, and contractors have been using the cloud to communicate and collaborate in designing and currently building Norway's biggest shopping center. Using collaboration for Revit software, BIM 360 Team software, and the Forge platform to view 3D models, it has been possible to identify and solve problems more quickly than in a traditional design process. Workflows, tips, and tricks will be essential in this lecture.

This class will demonstrate how Forge consumers can incorporate Google voice commands into their Enterprise Forge software. We’ll walk through a groundbreaking application where a field tech equipped with nothing but a cell phone can send voice commands to dynamically create a storage facility next to an existing BIM 360 commercial building. A design reviewer will be able to see and review the new storage facility in BIM 360 within minutes, providing real-time feedback. The field tech can use Google Voice Actions to provide size, material, and other preferences to make the model truly dynamic. You will discover how creating a model in the field can be done hands free without clicks or taps. We’ll also walk through the relevant technologies that made it happen, including Google Voice, Forge Design Automation for Revit, BIM 360 Docs software, and BIM 360 Viewer.

In this class, we will present how a cloud-tools-based solution may arise to limit tasks that are time-consuming or have no brain value. This session will show the VINCI Construction France dashboard that was developed with the help of the BIM 360 API and the Forge platform to enable the models’ quality overview using data from the different bricks of BIM 360 software. This dashboard enables the firm to surface some insights from each BIM 360 component of a BIM project, and dive into that data to deliver better BIM quality through the firm’s BIM checking tools and methods. This class will present a custom Forge API development inspired by Sam Nseir's work: "Integrate BIM 360 data with PowerBI using R."

See how the Forge platform was used to create a unique and interactive experience for US Olympic Museum’s Diamond Donor Program. The 60,000-square-foot museum is located at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, home of the United States Olympic Training Center. Opening in the fall of 2019, the museum will act as an anchor to the new City for Champions District. The museum’s facade has 10,000 unique, satin-anodized, aluminum panels, and appears to be stretched taut like an elastic fabric over the building’s twisting frame. Each diamond-shaped folded panel is unique, which offered the USOM the ability to let donors adopt and sponsor one of these unique panels and then virtually search for their assigned panels and see their digital inscriptions. As a family-owned and managed, medium-sized construction company, Grimm GmbH wanted to digitalize all their running corporate processes. Therefore, they decided to develope a collaboration platform called "Zapper". This online solution, based on Autodesk Forge technology, allows the connection of deep Autodesk Revit knowledge with standardized ERP-Systems like Microsoft Dynamics 365. The Zapper app supports the whole company’s infrastructure in a smart way. This solution allows management, project partners, all employees and clients to collaborate simply and with high efficiency. To enhance customer experience, a mobile app for clients was developed as part of the project. Customers can easily access all the current project data, at any time. In this class, you will learn how Grimm use their BIM models for planning, calculating, tendering and visualizing. Grimm contracted the internal start-up Sumoo and the software company ioLabs for the development of the Zapper app.

At Autodesk, we realize that our customers need to automate their processes and use their existing investments in our desktop products to bring their processes to the cloud for collaboration and automation at scale. In this class, we’ll cover all of the basics in the Design Automation for Inventor Forge service. We’ll walk through an example of an Inventor add-in and iLogic, turning this into a Design Automation AppBundle, and go through all of the steps necessary to go from the desktop to Forge. This will include code samples, as well as a working end-to-end example of both desktop code and Design Automation code. You’ll walk away knowing all of the building blocks and have a solid starting point for automating your processes on Forge.

Machine Learning (ML) techniques are now widely being used in almost all industries. This course focuses on how you can use ML in  the design of Mechanical Systems. We will share our insights on developing a methodology for quickly building a ML design app for the most common control valve type (the Symmetric Butterfly Valve), and how you can use numerical or experimental data generated from simulationHub to train your models. This class will step through machine learning fundamentals, data analysis, training and validating a ML model; and how to generate new 3D designs based on ML using Autodesk Forge.

This class dives into our cross-divisional project at Autodesk for the making of a SmartBridge inside our Pier9 facility.We'll walk through our case study where we used structural analysis, Eagle, Revit and Forge to design and plan the layout of sensors onto an interior pedestrian footbridge. Using sensors for strain, acceleration, temperature, pressure, humidity, sound and cameras, we created the "nervous system". We then integrated all this live sensor data into Autodesk's cloud environment, and used Forge to bring all the data into one context on top of the BIM.Using data at the centre, we'll show you how we learned from the data to create various machine learning analytics for interacting with people on the bridge. In our class, we'll go over how we applied big data analysis techniques, machine learning, computer vision and visualization in the cloud to make our bridge "smart".(Joint AU/Forge DevCon class).

The class presents cost management strategy using web based system that includes Forge. In the system, we focused to analyze legacy project data interactively for on-going project with Machine Learning Algorithm In an attempt of 5D BIM. It supports decision-making of cost control at the initial design stage when Revit model don't have detail object for estimation. By improving quality of cost estimate in initial design stage, it is easy to manage the cost within target budget through project. We will focus on as billow; a. How to get past project data interactively through WebAPI of internal system. b. How to get and share on-going project data with "Data management API " and "Viewer" of Forge. c. Data analysis techniques for cost estimation of on-going project using "scikit-learn" that is machine learning library in Python. d. Data cycle system to improve quality of analysis, constantly. This session will explore the above technique as it has been used for actual building projects.

Digital twins of process plants are digital replicas of the physical plant that contain information of the plant structure and of the dynamics of how the processes and devices operate. In simulation-based digital twins (SBDTs), first-principles simulation models are used to obtain dynamics of the targeted plant. These applications can be used to derive nonmeasured information of the simulated system, to obtain high-fidelity predictions, or to perform system-wide optimization for improving plant performance. This class will present an extension to the work showcased at Autodesk University 2018. In this class, we’ll present a Forge-based SBDT that uses a Model Broker, a novel solution for automatic simulation model generation. Model Broker utilizes the DEXPI information format available from AutoCAD Plant 3D software to generate the underlying simulation model of the SBDT. In the example implementation used in this class, the generated model is connected to the plant using OPC UA.
