Winning with Inventor Sheet Metal Workflow

Winning with Inventor Sheet Metal Workflow

Customer challenge

Tranos is one of the leading engineering and manufacturing companies in Nigeria, internationally recognized by their reputable specialized brands. Adding value to lives through a series of innovations and technical solutions, they have worked closely with customers and leveraged knowledge and technology to develop products and solutions for various customers in different industries. Their challenge is to utilize the digital transformation workflow through Design Automation in sheet metal design and they requested Autodesk Solution Provider Costech Computers Limited to train their Design Engineers on the Inventor Design Automation Workflow.

Project goals

This is because one of the major products from Tranos is Metal Enclosure, designed mainly using Autodesk Inventor Sheet Metal for fabrication detailing; the goal was to learn the Design Automation Workflow to improve the time to market of their products and ensure custom products flexibility with clients.

Solution

Empowering Tranos Design Engineers team with the needed skills in Inventor sheet metal design automation has greatly helped to improve the production workflow of the Metal Enclosure. Clients can come up with many suggestions for custom design, and within a few clicks and settings, the design department will have the customer's design intent and start right away on details for fabrication.

Business outcome

The major outcome achieved from the training with the design engineers at Tranos is the full utilization of Design Automation in major projects like the enclosure for Electrical, Mechanical Servers and Datacenter Racks, Battery Cabinets and Racks, Heavy Duty, Meter Boxes, ATEX Junction and other Customized Enclosures.

“Through this training, we have now an improved efficiency by eliminating the repetitive and frequently manual design work using the Design Automation workflow,” says the Design Lead.

Conclusion

After the training, the improvement was very visible and Tranos have decide to go further with creating a design configuration interactive screen using Autodesk Forge so that customers could modify any design to their desired outcome and get a quotation for production immediately after their selection. This will be a great future feature using the Design Automation workflow, says the Head of Engineering.
