Success Story

In 1965, Omnitech Automation opened its doors as a custom automated equipment manufacturer focused on providing customers with designs and machines that explicitly catered to their needs. Since its inception over 50 years ago, the company’s commitment and emphasis on quality and service have remained at the forefront of its decision-making. Today, Omnitech leverages leading-edge in-house systems and its highly experienced staff of automation experts as one of the countries’ premier custom automated equipment manufacturers.
Omnitech identified a problem they had not been able to address since before the COVID-19 pandemic: their Vault data management system was outdated and needed an upgrade. The upgrade from Vault Basic 2014 to Vault Basic 2023 was crucial for their business growth and for maintaining their unique designs and drawings collection.
In late 2022, Omnitech Automation identified an opportunity to upgrade its Vault data management system to the current version. Collaboration with Synergis Application Consultants helped determine the steps and process needed to do so. The project’s goal was for Synergis to install a new physical server and then, through a multi-step migration and upgrade process, migrate their database and custom content libraries from the Vault Basic 2014 server to the new server and Vault Basic Server 2023.
The solution was delivered through consulting and installation services provided by Synergis Application Consultants David Taylor and Jeffery Newton – taking approximately two months to complete from the start of the consultation to the scheduling of migration and installation. Training was provided to help the Omnitech team better understand the newer Vault systems to integrate Inventor and leverage iLogic.
To ensure that Omnitech Automation could maintain its work processes and job flow process without interference, the Synergis Application Consultants coordinated the installation of the new physical server while running the current server in tandem.
Omnitech Automation’s decision to collaborate with Synergis Engineering Design Solutions proved highly successful. The evolution of Vault has helped Omnitech streamline its internal processes and enhance its capabilities surrounding the management of its custom libraries and database.
The multi-step migration process through the different Vault versions was painless for Omnitech Automation. Overall, the enhancement of their Vault data management capabilities should be beneficial for Omnitech. Maintaining their custom designs and drawings effectively and efficiently will help ensure continued success and commitment to quality and service.

Global Manufacturer Improves Business Process with Autodesk
Amsted Rail, Brenco Division (https://www.amstedrail.com), the world’s leading manufacturer of undercarriage and end-of-railcar components, was using a change management process like many manufacturing companies – heavily driven and managed by engineering, somewhat manual, and sometimes inconsistent based on the content of the change. This placed a heavy burden on the engineering division to ensure changes were fully executed since, like most manufacturing organizations, they were responsible for defining much of the content for the change. An improved process was necessary.
C&D Turns to Synergis for Process Improvement Guidance After Acquisition
For more than 100 years, C&D Technologies, Inc (“C&D”) has been manufacturing and supporting innovative systems for the conversion and storage of electrical power and delivering world-class power solutions for mission-critical industrial applications. Recently, C&D acquired Trojan Battery Company, LLC (“Trojan”), a leading manufacturer of deep-cycle Solar and Motive batteries. With the combination of both companies, it was discovered that they had different ways of handling design, data, and change management, that needed to be streamlined into a single, easy-to-adopt process.
Partnership Allows Manufacturer to Perform at Highest Level
The partnership between Rockland and Synergis began over ten years ago when Rockland needed to consolidate a variety of engineering and drafting platforms into one single package. Rockland Manufacturing was comprised of teammates from various industries and backgrounds, each with their own preferences for CAD and analysis tools. As Rockland grew, their engineering resources became segregated and limited to their abilities in the CAD platform they were trained in. Synergis first partnered with Rockland over ten years ago to upgrade and install Autodesk Inventor and Vault Basic on all engineering computers and included training the entire Rockland engineering team on Autodesk Inventor and Vault best practices. Over the years Synergis has continuously supported Rockland with setup and maintenance of current software, file storage, and training.
