Ikeja Electric (IE) Plc is a foremost utility company in Nigeria. IE serves a majority of the customers in the densely populated areas in parts of Lagos and Ogun state. To adequately serve the huge population within its coverage area, IE needs to embark on rapid network expansion and rehabilitation projects that involve production of several network design drawings for the Engineering and Project teams.
Through close collaboration with EdgeBase and Autodesk, IE sought a CAD tool that will aid production of a comprehensive network design drawing which will capture the most recent development within the network, in addition to developing skills (manpower) required to develop this drawing.
The primary Project Goals identified were as follows:
The deployment of the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) Collection has helped in the speedy development of comprehensive network architecture and regular updates of network modification to reflect current state of the network. The diagrammatic representation of the network has provided a power too (Single Line Diagram) to communicate up to date network status with all stakeholders within the organization and it has helped to present clear project scope (schematic diagram) to contractors for network expansion projects.
Senior management can now easily view schematic representation of the entire distribution network to aid analysis of network modification project. The IE team now experiences speedy development of design drawings for network integration and expansion projects.
