The customer, Thai A-Tech Solution (Thailand) Co.,Ltd, the Korean Mold maker and the Injection Molding manufacturer locates in the East part of Thailand. Thai A-Tech has used Autodesk Moldflow Insight Premium to evaluate mold design and mold making in-house.
The customers today focused more on the Moldflow DFM report, especially the warpage result before approval to cut steel. The big challenge was how to guarantee with confidence to the customers the warpage will not happen ?
The project goal was to fully understand why the part warpage. The part design was one important causing warpage and implement the right work flow to analyze warpage. Autodesk Moldflow Insight provide Fluent conducted a warp geometry export feature to use in part design. To be able to guarantee the warpage require the Moldflow users who have fully understood of both of injection molding and Moldflow simulation.
By using Autodesk Moldflow Insight (warp simulation), it was determined how the part design needs to create CAD in the opposite side to compensate for the warpage (the export warp geometry (warped CAD) was used for reference). The re-run of Moldflow was done with the compensation part design, then the actual warpage will return to the right part design. In parallel, we did 1) Re-Training focus on accurate warpage simulation, 2) Training on how to export warped geometry(CAD) and use it in part design, 3) Training on how the warped geometry(CAD) can help in the guarantee of warpage, and 4) suggest A-Tech explain to their customers.
Since completion of helping to use Autodesk Moldflow to guarantee the warpage with confidence, Fluent determined that the warpage correlation compare to the real molded part needs to investigate when the mold making complete. The warpage analysis can be done to guarantee to the customers the warpage will not happen before cutting steel.
This was a great work where our customer was able to do warpage analysis with correct workflow and with confidence by our Moldflow Training and Consultant expertise. As well as utilize Autodesk Moldflow Insight simulation capability (Export warp geometry) to support in the prevention of warpage in the part design phase. This was also a great story of combining practical injection molding and Autodesk Moldflow software to prevent the warpage.
