Customer challenge

Mikron Automation – a division of the Mikron Group – is the leading partner for scalable and customized assembly systems. With 700 employees, Mikron Automation is headquartered in Switzerland and also has sites in the USA, Singapore, China and Lithuania. The company aimed for more efficiency along its own process chain. The focus: reduce inventory costs, and reduce throughput times. Mikron identified the reduction of information breaks in the processes as the most important adjusting screw for this.

Project goals

Mikron strives for the continuous digitization of the process chain from inquiry to delivery. As a first step, the company focused on increasing efficiency in data management. The focus was on reducing data and process breaks. The goal: the transformation of the Engineering Bill of Material (EBOM) to the Manufacturing Bill of Material (MBOM).

Solution

CIDEON recommended and supported Mikron in the introduction of Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage, a product lifecycle management (PLM) solution. The cloud-based PLM system builds on the already introduced PDM system Autodesk Vault Professional. CIDEON built the data model and optimized connectivity with the self-developed CIDEON PLM Framework. MIKRON was able to create a complete stand-alone frontend itself. Acceptance, implementation and usability were thus significantly increased or even further simplified.

Business outcome

The introduction of the Autodesk PDM and PLM solutions sustainably improved data management at Mikron. Perfect data consistency has now been achieved throughout, among other things also through change management that is always traceable. The result: faster throughput times and thus also lower warehousing costs for the company.
