CAD2BIM Transition by YNZ Interior

CAD2BIM Transition by YNZ Interior

Customer challenge

YNZ Interior is an interior company who provides interior fit-out and facility maintenance that specializes in high quality works for commercial and luxury retailers, as well as resorts, hotels, showrooms, and offices. They are proud and experienced team members who are all committed to the same philosophy of quality. YNZ Interior’s core team members of project managers, coordinators, carpenter, masons, and senior management staff members have worked together for over 10 years. Teamwork and shared values differentiate them, enabling them to deliver projects on time and within budget every time. Since Autodesk BIM Implementation’s getting popular in Thailand, YNZ Interior’s team is required to implement Autodesk BIM. YNZ’s executives and designer teams also now give more attention to this issue.

Project goals

YNZ Interior’s looking for: 1. Educate YNZ’s designer and modeler team to know Autodesk BIM solution and products. 2. Complete the pilot project of Autodesk BIM Implementation.

Solution

Our team at IT Solution Computer (Thailand) began with information providing and demonstration on the Autodesk BIM concept, Autodesk Revit, and Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro to YNZ’s designer and modeler team. We explained Autodesk Revit and Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro features in order to clarify how the products worked. After they subscribed the products, we conducted the online training of Autodesk Revit Fundamental and Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro courses respectively. After the training completed, YNZ’s design and modeler team began with a small pilot project by using Autodesk Revit and Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro internally for practicing.

Business outcome

With Autodesk CAD-to-BIM transition completed, YNZ began their real implementation with a new interior decoration project of the Chanel shop at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. The project’s value was US $10M. That seemed to be their big moving step for them because they’ve created their job with new innovation.

Conclusion

With the “Can do” mindset, YNZ’s designer and modeler team is now able to learn and implement their projects with Autodesk BIM within a short period of time. There are some technical consulting needed from us from time to time during the project implementation, but they can be successful in this transition.

Autodesk Vault

Founded on May 28th, 2003 as 2nd overseas factory at Amata City Industrial Estate, Rayong. They are special manufacture and sales of high-precision engine parts for motorcycle etc, and have consistent processing system from forging, machining, heat treatment, finishing and until assembling. For high-precision modeling design, Nissin’s designers currently use Autodesk Inventor from PDMC as a designing tool to create their work. However, there were three crucial issues that the team concerned. One was about version control since there were a lot of designing models and a lot of versions for each designing model to handle. The second issue was about how to reuse the old designing models if they wanted to combine with their new designing models. And the last issue was what the right version control tools and reusable tools to be compatible with their designing tool, Autodesk Inventor.

Technical Reskill for Workpoint Group.

Workpoint Group is a Highly functional independent TV content production company that grows into a multimedia corporation, now operating the top digital television channel, Workpoint channel. Since they had to recruit creators, who mainly produced cartoon animation, from one of their subsidiary companies called Ban Ittilit, that was a very challenging to switch these creators to produce TV content in a short period of time. The only tool, while creators created cartoon animation, was Autodesk Maya. And they were wondering whether Autodesk Maya, the current tool could be enough and used to create TV content or they needed to change their tools in order to handle their new role.
