BMG - Top Service Delivery and Business Growth, internally and externally

BMG - Top Service Delivery and Business Growth, internally and externally

Customer challenge

Amongst the many challenges they have, BMG (Bearing Man Group) faces the challenge of servicing customers and growing the BMG group of companies.

This means they have multiple products and engineering solutions that they have on offer, but require seamless integration of these solutions internally to drive and achieve top service delivery to customers. These multiple solutions include, but are not limited to, mechanical engineering, fluid pneumatic products and bulk material handling packs for conveyor components, bearings, design and safeguarding of such information related to their solutions and/or products.

BMG also had a niggling fear of the ongoing hacks of business Intellectual Property that has become known to them - and they knew that they weren't fully risk free in the security of out IP.

Project goals

Some of the project goals that BMG has identified are:

  • Creating an environment where a 'single source of the truth' exists, leveraging Autodesk Vault.
  • Seamless design and manufacturing, extending to supply for their customers, using Autodesk Inventor Professional, integrated seamlessly in their multi-cad environment, with projects managed in Autodesk Vault, to manage time and cost of any project, reducing errors and reduction of design repetition.
  • Improve workflow turnaround times on design and engineering changes through their engaged counterparts and customers using Autodesk Vault environment, integrated with their multi-cad environment.
  • Reuse of design, thereby driving their other objective of automating component input and reuse and assemblies.
  • The output of accurate Bill Of Materials through seamless integration between their Autodesk Vault and Multi-cad environment, and intelligent design data due to improved and best practice workflow implementation.

Solution

Modena OneSolve was able to, through a comprehensive assessment of our existing data repository, and CAD environment and workflows, recommend the most effective, and pain free migration process, with minimal impact on BMG's productivity, to first of all upgrade their entire environment in both the Data Management and CAD platforms from 2020 to 2024 release.

Modena believed that for BMG to achieve our goals, BMG needed to evolve and be willing to leverage the latest versions of the Autodesk solutions to achieve their goals, with IP security being the highest priority for them. (BMG was really fearful of losing data during the migration process).

To achieve this the agreed intervention required and that was ultimately implemented included a comprehensive and detailed scope of work, with a step by step view of each step that Modena executed against to successfully achieve the conclusion of this migration, in BMG's Autodesk Vault and CAD environment. It included comprehensive Project and Change Management functions and consulting with a hand held approach every step of the way.

Business outcome

BMG knows that they will never be fully immune to global and local challenges that businesses face today, however they know that their best chance at staying relevant in the industry and to their clients is to automate as much as they possible can, to increase turnaround times as well as provide world class services and products to their clients. And they believe that one of the first places to start with automating, and digitalising, was in their design and engineering office, which is where their IP sits.

And with IP being a challenge in today's world where the world of 'hacking' exists, BMG needed to prioritise that and leverage the expertise and support of a reliable Autodesk Partner to help them achieve that, and Modena managed to help BMG with that, with a positive and successful outcome that has alleviated a lot of their fears they initially had with doing a migration from 2020 to 2024.

BMG's secondary outcome was improving productivity and end user experience in their design and engineering office, to drive ongoing commitment and loyalty to their business and our customers, and their users have noticed a significant improvement in workflows and functionality since the completion of their migration to 2024 release of Autodesk Vault and CAD packages.

Conclusion

BMG fully appreciates, and now see the value of, that Autodesk Vault is a key part of successfully managing multiple projects, products and libraries, within their Design and Engineering environment, which helps them to support their customers for one-off designs, all the way to large multi-national groups in the supply and design for the greater good our their business, all the while knowing that their customers' data is secure.

This together with the comprehensive tools that are incorporated into the Autodesk array of solutions (PDMC), work hand in hand to ensure workflow and management thereof are done at the highest level possible.

One of the takeaways from this project and successful outcome, is that the Modena team played a pivotal role in professionally getting the migration to run seamlessly, smoothly, with BMG concluding the project well ahead of schedule with zero errors presenting themselves (BMG was fearful of errors/delays). Their impact as a result was zero downtime, which was a huge success factor for BMG and has provided BMG with the confidence to trust Modena for all their future needs and for them to help guide them towards leveraging and adopting the best solutions for their business and goals.

K/M2K Saves 2 Hours of Work per Design Review through Better Remote Teamwork with Autodesk BIM360

During the Covid-19 Pandemic of 2020, K/M2K Architecture and Interior Design found themselves struggling to navigate remote working during a national lockdown. Traditional methods of file sharing were found inefficient and lacking for a team that needed to communicate a lot of information at a high frequency.

From 2D AutoCAD to Intelligent iLogic-driven 3D Inventor Designs

Palian was using 2D AutoCAD in a primarily 3D dominated field, struggling with collaboration between branches and the length of time it would take to make relatively small changes to designs. Getting drawings and quantities to the sales team for quotation purposes took longer than desired and a lot of manual user calculations and input was still needed, which increased the change of costly "human error" mistakes.

DRA Global takes on Project Delays with Innovative use of Technology

DRA Global had to overcome a delay of 25 days over deadline for their Sierra Leone Project, so they needed to find a way to get that time back to avoid running over with this project. The impact of this was on their future expansion projects within the same mine, in Sierra Leone, which would be double the size of the original project.
