BIM Processes for Complex Facade Designs from Design to Manufacturing

BIM Processes for Complex Facade Designs from Design to Manufacturing

Customer challenge

FIBROBETON was the first company in Turkey to develop fiber-reinforced concrete technology and used it in exterior design. They were the founder of this sector and have added value to nearly 5,000 buildings in nearly 30 countries on 5 continents since 1987 with that.

They needed consultancy and training on facade designs for BIM processes in large projects, so they reached out to our team at PROTA to help them.

Project goals

After evaluating the demands and needs of FIBROBETON, we introduced them to Autodesk Revit. It's capabilities to model, coordinate, detail, and create drawings for manufacturing made it an excellent choice for FIBROBETON.

A special training program to be given by an Autodesk Certified Trainer has been planned in a very short time in order to meet the needs of FIBROBETON.

We decided to start with the process from Design to Manufacturing model and created training and consultancy processes in two different locations. We focused especially on teaching the design and production of complex facades and how to use working processes in different locations with Autodesk solutions.

Solution

We demonstrated and explained how to:

  • Use the power of Autodesk Revit with modeling and examples of architectural cladding and panels.
  • Update instant changes, drawings and quantity information with the parametric structure of the created models.
  • Automatically calculate values and avoid errors with Autodesk Dynamo for Revit, especially in the creation of material information.

Business outcome

At the end of the training given to the FIBROBETON project team and manufacturing processes team, they learned to review Revit models, manage each update, design data and use collaborative working techniques throughout the project lifecycle.

In addition, they participated in a real project after the training and with that gained information to meet the demands of different companies.

Conclusion

FIBROBETON Project Management team has gained the ability to work in coordination and cooperation among themselves, partners, and subcontractors on BIM models.

They managed their deliveries with faster and error-free results by advancing model and manufacturing processes on a single model.
